7. Promoting the bogus Steele dossier he knew was not credible ~ <\/strong>Any idiot could have read the Clinton-funded Steele dossier and known it wasn\u2019t credible. Schiff also had to know the information in it was uncorroborated and full of inaccuracies, embellishments, and lies. Nevertheless, he promoted the dossier as a legitimate piece of anti-Trump intelligence.<\/em><<\/p>\n

Except it never was. According to Inspector General Michael Horowitz\u2019s report on FISA abuse, the FBI had \u201ccorroborated limited information in Steele\u2019s election reporting\u201d and that the CIA \u201cviewed it as \u2018internet rumor.\u2019\u201d\u00a0Rolling Stone\u00a0even noted<\/a>\u00a0that the report \u201cis especially hostile to Schiff\u2019s claim that the FBI \u2018provided additional information obtained through multiple independent sources that corroborated Steele\u2019s reporting.\u2019\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Back then Democrats were hoping for collusion to be true so they could justify impeachment. Anything, even blatant lies, was on the table to make impeachment happen.<\/em><\/p>\n

6. His repeated claims of having \u201cample evidence\u201d of collusion ~<\/strong> On several occasions, Adam Schiff declared there was \u201cample evidence\u201d of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia and that he had seen it. \u201cThere is already, in my view, ample evidence in the public domain on the issue of collusion if you\u2019re willing to see it,\u201d Schiff\u00a0said back<\/a>\u00a0in February 2018. \u201cIf you want to blind yourself, then you can look the other way.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Of course, we all know that the Mueller report found no evidence of collusion, so Schiff was lying\u00a0every time\u00a0he claimed to have seen evidence of collusion. Schiff\u2019s goal of impeaching Trump would have to wait for another lie.<\/em><\/p>\n

5. Denying FISA abuse even though he knew it happened ~<\/strong> Back in 2017, then-House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) revealed that evidence of FISA \u201cabuse\u201d\u00a0had been uncovered by investigators<\/a>. \u201cWe have had an ongoing investigation into DOJ [Department of Justice] and FBI since mid-summer for both FISA [Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court] abuse and other matters that we can\u2019t get into too much. But it is very concerning,\u201d he said.<\/em><\/p>\n

A couple of months later, the House Intelligence Committee\u00a0released a memo on surveillance abuses by the Obama administration<\/a>. For Schiff, any abuse of the FISA court system might undermine any impeachment narrative that might present itself with regard to the 2016 election and Russian collusion. So, Schiff had to mock the Nunes memo relentlessly to keep the message on track. Schiff denied that any abuses had occurred\u00a0in his own memo released shortly thereafter<\/a>. As the ranking Democrat on the committee at the time, Schiff had access to the same information as Nunes, so he knew the Nunes memo was accurate.<\/em><\/p>\n

When the Horowitz report ultimately proved Nunes was right and that Schiff lied, Schiff conceded there were abuses but claimed not to have seen evidence of this before, even though he had. He just lied about it. \u201cAnyone who would still defend the FISA warrants of Carter Page after the Horowitz report is deceiving themselves or you. There\u2019s no defending it. Nunes was right about that. Schiff was wrong,\u201d\u00a0said\u00a0Bloomberg\u00a0columnist Eli Lake<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n

4. Lying about having contact with the whistleblower ~<\/strong> PolitiFact isn\u2019t exactly known for being fair to Republicans, but when Adam Schiff claimed, \u201cWe have not spoken directly with the whistleblower,\u201d during an interview on MSNBC in September 2019, they couldn\u2019t exactly cover for him when it\u00a0was revealed by the\u00a0New York Times<\/a>\u00a0that Schiff\u2019s staff had been colluding with the whistleblower and was aware of the whistleblower\u2019s concerns in advance of them going public. \u201cWhile it was not publicly known that Schiff\u2019s committee had communicated with the whistleblower ahead of the complaint\u2019s filing, Schiff knew the truth,\u201d explained Politifact. \u201cWhen given the chance to say that the whistleblower had reached out to a committee aide, he did not.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

3. Misrepresenting a key text message\u00a0~ <\/strong>According to a report from\u00a0Politico, Schiff\u00a0\u201cmischaracterized\u201d impeachment evidence that was used during the House Democrats\u2019 impeachment investigation<\/a>. In a letter sent to House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler, Schiff claimed that Giuliani associate Lev Parnas \u201ccontinued to try to arrange a meeting with President Zelensky,\u201d which was based on a text message from Parnas to Giuliani that read \u201ctrying to get us mr Z.\u201d The rest of the exchange was redacted, but Schiff clearly knew that the redacted portion made it clear that \u201cmr Z\u201d actually referred to Mykola Zlochevsky, the founder of Burisma.<\/em><\/p>\n

2. Claiming Ambassador Sondland\u2019s testimony proved there was a quid pro quo ~ <\/strong>On Tuesday, Schiff once again told a whopper by misrepresenting Ambassador Sondland\u2019s testimony. \u201cAmbassador Sondland also said\u2026that\u2014we\u2019re often asked \u2018was there a quid pro quo?\u2019 the answer is \u2018yes there was a quid pro quo,\u2019 there was an absolute quid pro quo,\u201d\u00a0Schiff said<\/a>.<\/em> Here\u2019s the problem: by Sondland\u2019s own testimony,\u00a0he didn\u2019t know definitively that there was a quid pro, he was presuming there was<\/a>.<\/em> \u201cIs that your testimony today, Ambassador Sondland, that you have evidence that Donald Trump tied the investigations to the aid? Because I don\u2019t think you\u2019re saying that.\u201d Rep. Mike Turner (R-Ohio) asked him.<\/em> \u201cI said repeatedly [\u2026] I was presuming,\u201d Sondland noted.<\/em> After questions, Turner asked more pointedly, \u201cSo, you really have no testimony today that ties President Trump to a scheme to withhold aid from Ukraine in exchange for these investigations?\u201d<\/em> \u201cOther than my own presumption,\u201d Sondland said.<\/em><\/p>\n

1. His fictional version of the Trump-Zelenksy phone call ~ <\/strong>Remember when the transcript of the phone call between President Trump and Ukrainian President Zelensky was released and Democrats were falling over each other claiming the transcript was even more \u201cdamning\u201d than they imagined? Well, it wasn\u2019t damning enough to Adam Schiff, who, when claiming to read the transcript on the House floor, fabricated the entire transcript into something far more sinister than it actually was.<\/em><\/p>\n

Criticism over the deception caused him to backpedal and claim that his reading of the transcript was meant as a parody.<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cIf the conversation were as damning as Schiff et al would like, he would have simply read directly from it, instead of making up dialogue,\u201d Fox News\u2019s Brit Hume\u00a0wisely observed it a tweet<\/a>. \u201cProbably not surprising in light of the extravagant collusion claims he made for 2 years.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
