What\u2019s up next for Ron DeSantis?<\/h2>\n

Attacks on Casey DeSantis intensified this week<\/b> when MSNBC guests called Florida\u2019s first lady a \u201cwily figure\u201d and \u201cAmerica\u2019s Karen.\u201d The panel joked that \u201call kinds of names\u201d exist for the Florida governor\u2019s wife. But while prominent politicians expect media scrutiny, it\u2019s unusual to see such hostility towards a candidate\u2019s spouse just weeks into a presidential campaign \u2013 absent some sort of scandal. So why does the mainstream media treat Casey DeSantis with such disdain?<\/p>\n

Before DeSantis formally entered the 2024 race for the White House, Politico ran a story comparing Casey DeSantis to Lady Macbeth, the power-hungry character in Shakespeare\u2019s tragedy of political ambition. \u201cThe more complicated but also more instructive reality is that she is neither the fawning caricature she\u2019s made out to be in conservative and even at times mainstream media nor a Shakespearean villain,\u201d Politico wrote<\/a>. But DeSantis staffers and other media outlets quickly disputed the story, featuring \u201canonymous\u201d sources in the governor\u2019s sphere and a quote from longtime Trump loyalist Roger Stone.<\/p>\n

Fox News contributor Joe Concha called out Politico<\/b> and other Leftist outlets for their \u201celitism\u201d that is \u201con full display.\u201d \u201cNever would any of these so-called news outlets even consider reporting on Jill Biden in this fashion,\u201d Concha told<\/a> Fox News digital. \u201cIt\u2019s activism. Not journalism. And objective news consumers stopped trusting the messenger a long time ago.\u201d<\/p>\n

In an interview on Varney & Co., DeSantis <\/b>said<\/b><\/a> his wife wears the criticism as a \u201cbadge of honor,\u201d explaining that she poses a threat to the left and doted on her as a fantastic wife, mother and first lady of Florida. \u201cSo she and I kind of shrug it off because we know it just shows they view her as a threat, because the message that she was bringing in Iowa about the rights of parents and how we are not going to take this anymore with the left trying to indoctrinate our kids, they understand that that resonates not just with Republican parents, with independent parents and, yes, with Democrat parents,\u201d DeSantis said, referring to her recently launched Mamas for DeSantis campaign<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Fox News contributor Ari Fleischer <\/b>noted<\/b><\/a> that while first ladies traditionally are treated respectfully, Casey DeSantis\u2019 accomplishments, intellect and outspoken support for her husband have made her a target. \u201cI\u2019m for the deference. I am for these old traditions,\u201d Fleischer said. \u201cThey make the country better and stronger. And when you start to lose this, we\u2019re losing another piece of Americana.\u201d<\/p>\n

Today, Governor DeSantis engaged<\/b> with voters and residents at a meet and greet in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Saturday he will do the same at a meet and greet in Winterset, Iowa at 9:00 AM CT.<\/p>\n
