British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak put a political leash on his attack dog Defense Minister Grant Shapps, who made headlines this week saying British ground troops would enter Ukraine to train the Ukrainian Army.\u00a0 Shapps statement caused a clear response from Russia saying such troops would be targets for the Russian Army.<\/p>\n
Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said on Sunday that any Brit soldiers training soldiers inside\u00a0Ukraine<\/a>\u00a0would be legitimate targets for\u00a0Russian<\/a>\u00a0forces and “ruthlessly destroyed.”<\/p>\n He directed his fury at Shapps who told The Sunday Telegraph that he wants to “eventually” deploy military instructors to Ukraine in addition to training Ukrainian troops in Britain.<\/p>\n In a post on Telegram, Medvedev fumed: “The number of leading idiots in Nato countries is growing.”<\/p>\n “One newly minted cretin – the British Minister of Defence – decided to transfer English training courses for Ukrainian soldiers to the territory of Ukraine itself.”<\/p>\n “These idiots are actively pushing us towards a Third World War.”<\/p>\n He continued: “[This will] turn their instructors into a legal target for our armed forces.”<\/p>\n Sunday afternoon, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak laid Chapps remarks to rest.\u00a0 Sunak told Sky News “The United Kingdom will\u00a0not<\/strong>\u00a0<\/em>train the Ukrainian military on the territory of Ukraine until the end of the war, despite the previous statement by the British Defense Minister.”<\/p>\n He said today: “What the Defense Secretary was saying was that it might well be possible one day in the future for us to do some of that training in Ukraine.\u00a0That’s something for the long term, not the here and now, there are no British soldiers that will be sent to fight in the current conflict.”<\/p>\n ___<\/p>\n
