Israeli officials and media pundits now want answers:\u00a0how could Israel’s most celebrated and storied intelligence organization\u00a0Mossad<\/em>\u00a0have missed it?\u00a0<\/strong>How did the military not have any foreknowledge that it was coming? How did the Gaza jihadists overrun several IDF outposts so swiftly and easily?<\/p>\n Current and former Israeli officials are now decrying the “catastrophic” intelligence failure, and warn it may have serious lasting political ramifications. This whole war could even serve to destabilize the Netanyahu coalition government.<\/p>\n Chuck Freilich, Israel’s former deputy national security adviser, has\u00a0told<\/a>\u00a0Politico:\u00a0<\/i>“This is a catastrophic failure in regards to Gaza.”<\/strong><\/p>\n “It\u2019s a failure in terms of intelligence, operationally,” Freilich said. “It\u2019s clear we were caught totally unprepared by this<\/strong>. The divisional headquarters responsible for Gaza was occupied, they\u2019re in disarray, and so the whole response has been delayed.”<\/p>\n He predicts far-reaching\u00a0“political ramifications”<\/a>…<\/p>\n “There\u2019s always a short-term rallying around the flag.
