{"id":190413,"date":"2023-10-09T10:53:34","date_gmt":"2023-10-09T14:53:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stateofthenation.co\/?p=190413"},"modified":"2023-10-09T10:55:23","modified_gmt":"2023-10-09T14:55:23","slug":"mccarthys-protect-the-house-2024-gambit","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateofthenation.co\/?p=190413","title":{"rendered":"<h2>McCarthy\u2019s Protect the House 2024 Gambit<\/h2>"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more-->Renee Parsons<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Although the Republican party lost its soul to the Uniparty many years ago, the removal of Kevin McCarthy as House Speaker is nothing less than a struggle for its remnants of liberty and freedom; if not an existential element in the definitive struggle to preserve the foundations of the United States of America.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Given the latest epistle from those higher ups in the House of Representatives, the news that, upon reflection, former Speaker Kevin McCarthy needs to be recalled from enforced retirement and reinstalled immediately in order to resolve the Hamas attack on Israel.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The dilemma reminds US taxpayers of its gift of a missile-defense Iron Dome system, estimated by the CRS in excess of $1 billion, and exemplifies how the US allowed itself to accumulate a $33 Trillion debt in response to endless military adventures in order to preserve its hegemony.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Nevertheless, the House Uniparty response of a McCarthy reinstatement is little more than typical rationale of a morally bankrupt power elite which continues to be consistently out of touch with the Republican base.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>It took the Presidential campaign and administration of Donald Trump to wake up that constituency to the incompetence and corrupt nature of the mainstream Republican party who prefer Democratic socialistic policies. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"> ***<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In early 2023, McCarthy announced establishment of the<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/mccarthys-protect-house-2024-doles-out-millions-boost-incumbent-republicans\"><span class=\"s2\">Protect the House 2024<\/span><\/a> political action committee during a soiree at the Capitol Hill Club doling out $8 million to newly elected Republican House Members with $4.7 million coming from member-to-member donations. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Focusing on its newest Members was a politically smart move as to assure their support for the caucus agenda as well as for McCarthy personally who had just been elected Speaker in an unprecedented contest.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">To reiterate, McCarthy\u2019s ascension was based on a power-sharing agreement made in January with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2023\/01\/03\/20-house-republicans-oppose-mccarthy-speaker-00076228\"><span class=\"s2\">The Twenty<\/span><\/a> in order to secure the Speaker\u2019s seat.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The agreement came as the result of a round of fifteen separate votes determining whether McCarthy had the \u2018mojo\u2019 to be Speaker in a new environment; as each vote brought him closer to accepting new standards of accountability for a Republican House.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The agreement included term limits and release of the January 6<\/span><span class=\"s3\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> tapes as well as procedural reform including a <a href=\"https:\/\/mail.google.com\/mail\/u\/0\/?pli=1#inbox\/FMfcgzGtxTBWgHJtJJGLXkHnGSTbrLrL\"><span class=\"s2\">deliberative appropriation process<\/span><\/a> to re-establish an annual budget process that would allow single-subject line-by-line consideration of twelve federal funding bills in conformance with the<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.govtrack.us\/congress\/bills\/93\/hr7130\"><span class=\"s2\">Congressional Budget and Impoundment<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Act of 1974<\/span><\/a><\/span><span class=\"s2\">. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"s1\"> It is the appropriations process that fund projects Congress has already authorized except when the administrative state appropriates funds for Congressionally unauthorized<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>projects.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Initially the Speaker\u2019s agreement appeared to function well until soon after McCarthy\u2019s return from Israel in April. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>It was at that point, the debt ceiling became a major point of contention as House efforts were focused on no increase in the debt ceiling and substantive budget cuts as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lee.senate.gov\/2023\/5\/sen-lee-leads-43-gop-senators-in-opposition-to-raising-debt-limit-without-substantive-spending-and-budget-reforms\"><span class=\"s2\">a Senate coalition<\/span><\/a> announced it was in sync with House efforts.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">With a $32 Trillion debt, a $2 Trillion interest payment and a trillion dollar shortfall staring Congress in the face, McCarthy\u2019s minions, Rep. McHenry (NC) and Garrett (La) secretly negotiated with the Biden Administration to raise the debt ceiling without a cap on spending; thereby undercutting members of his own caucus and members of the Senate who were looking for the House which controls the \u2018<i>power of the purse\u2019<\/i> to lead the way. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">As the debt approached $33 Trillion, the House voted in support of the debt ceiling <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/interactive\/2023\/house-vote-debt-ceiling\/?itid=lk_inline_manual_4\"><span class=\"s2\">217-215<\/span><\/a><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>with no cap and sparse Federal spending cuts back to 2022 levels. Four Republicans voted No: Reps.<\/span> <span class=\"s5\">Andy Biggs (AZ), Tim Burchett (TN), Ken Buck (CO) and Matt Gaetz (FL) \u2014 while all the Democrats oppose any iota of a budget cut as unacceptable.<\/span><span class=\"s1\"> That vote was accompanied by a promise that single-subject review of twelve appropriation bills would occur by the September 30<\/span><span class=\"s3\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>end of the fiscal year. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">After an extravagant six week Congressional break, the Speaker\u2019s promise of separate appropriation bills was broken when no single subject bills<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>were ready for prime-time as the Speaker pushed a Continuing Resolution which was approved<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.govtrack.us\/congress\/votes\/118-2023\/h513\"><span class=\"s2\">335 &#8211; 91 with 126 mostly Red State Republicans voting Yes<\/span><\/a>. The stopgap has a November 17 deadline by which the remaining appropriation bills need to be finalized.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">From there, another fly in the ointment surfaced as McCarthy again made a private agreement with the Biden Administration to continue Ukraine funding with an extra $80 Billion on top of the $115 Billion already expended.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Additional Ukraine funding came<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>with no attempt to deny the collusion and no expression of concern to stave off impending fiscal doom. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Be early October it was clear that the January agreement was no longer relevant and in response to a contemptuous Uniparty, eight <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/10\/03\/politics\/republicans-vote-remove-mccarthy-house-speaker\/index.html\"><span class=\"s2\">Republicans<\/span><\/a> stepped forward to introduce a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\/virginia-congressman-vows-support-mccarthy-house-speaker-part-swamp-cartel\"><span class=\"s2\">Motion to Vacate<\/span><\/a> the Chair with 208 Democrats for a <a href=\"https:\/\/clerk.house.gov\/evs\/2023\/roll519.xml\"><span class=\"s2\">216 &#8211; 210 vote<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/a> to remove McCarthy.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Initially McCarthy announced that he would <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2023\/10\/03\/politics\/mccarthy-gaetz-vote-motion-to-vacate\/index.html\"><span class=\"s2\">not seek<\/span><\/a> re-election; then announced he would remain a Member of the House which immediately sends up, excuse the pun, red flags.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"> ***<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">With a reputation for being a prodigious fund raiser, it would be na\u00efve to believe that part of McCarthy\u2019s allure to secure votes as Speaker is unrelated to his control of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/committee\/C00831925\/\"><span class=\"s2\">Protect the House 2024<\/span><\/a> political action website and his ability to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/disbursements\/?committee_id=C00831925&amp;two_year_transaction_period=2024&amp;data_type=processed\"><span class=\"s2\">reward<\/span><\/a> his favorite House Members who dutifully follow the prevailing narrative.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>For instance, whether certain Members earned a reward for voting against the Motion to Vacate.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s6\">As a public agency, a visit to the FEC filings easily reveals who has already received tainted money.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In a nutshell, while perusing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/disbursements\/?committee_id=C00831925&amp;two_year_transaction_period=2024&amp;data_type=processed\"><span class=\"s2\">Disbursement<\/span><\/a> entries are interesting, what is noteworthy is which House caucus Republicans do not merit a \u2018disbursement\u2019 from the Speaker while the \u201c<\/span><span class=\"s7\">Kevin McCarthy for Congress\u2019 website awarded itself approximately $1.8 million<\/span><span class=\"s1\">.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>In other words, the Speaker liberally took care of himself while a portion of the Republican caucus came up short. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">One part of the FEC Data collection includes \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/spending-bythenumbers\/?office=H\"><span class=\"s2\">Spending by the Numbers<\/span><\/a>\u201d which identifies top Senate and House 2024 candidates based on how much they have spent:<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>top Senators included<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Ted Cruz(Tex), Josh Hawley (Mo.) and Rick Scott (Fla), all of whom are running for reelection against well-funded Democrats.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Identified as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fec.gov\/data\/spending-bythenumbers\/?office=H\"><span class=\"s2\">Biggest House Spender<\/span><\/a> was Guess Who? <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><span class=\"s7\">Rep. Kevin McCarthy (Cal.) is listed at $5,594,271<\/span><span class=\"s1\">, followed by Majority Leader Rep. Steve Scalise (La.) at $4, 219,818, Rep. Marjorie Greene (Ga.) at $2,757,302 and Judiciary Committee Chair Rep. Jim Jordan at $2,616,891 (Ohio).<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">It would be a massive oversight to not at least mention McCarthy\u2019s more <a href=\"https:\/\/rumble.com\/v3my1tg-episode-401-inside-the-numbers-with-the-peoples-pundit.html?mref=6zof&amp;mc=dgip3&amp;ep=1\"><span class=\"s2\">devious tendency to sabotage and undermine<\/span><\/a> potential House candidates who believe in a different political narrative.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Worthy candidates whose narrative would threaten globalist hold on the Republican caucus and otherwise influence Republican politics in favor of the America First philosophy. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>That history is so voluminous it deserves special attention elsewhere.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">*** <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">To add to the current drama, forty five predominately Uniparty House Republicans <a href=\"https:\/\/punchbowl.news\/23-10-05-future-of-gop-majority-letter\/\"><span class=\"s2\">signed a letter<\/span><\/a> grumbling about the Motion to Vacate McCarthy referring to him as \u201c<i>one of the most accomplished Republican leaders in modern history\u201d <\/i>yet offering no recognition of McCarthy\u2019s budget finagling with the Biden Administration as a mere $33 Trillion debt of no significance.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Absent from the letter was any concern that the country is on a fiscal brink of insolvency with a fiscal default on the horizon \u2013 and no suggestion as how McCarthy would relieve the impending catastrophe. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s5\">There is also another rumored letter with twenty signatures in support of removal of the Motion to Vacate language which is standard as found in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.govinfo.gov\/content\/pkg\/HMAN-108\/pdf\/HMAN-108-jeffersonman.pdf\"><span class=\"s8\"><i>Jefferson&#8217;s Manual<\/i><\/span><\/a><\/span><span class=\"s1\">, written by Thomas Jefferson and adopted by the House as guidance for its parliamentary procedure in 1837.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>It reads as \u201cA Speaker may be removed at the will of the House, and a Speaker pro tempore appointed.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">If, in fact, there is a Motion to remove the Motion to Vacate or to reinstate McCarthy, it will be especially fascinating to observe how the original Twenty will vote since fifteen of them chose to retain McCarthy.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>There are another twenty or thirty House Members who consider themselves to be independent, forward thinkers who frequently stray across the line<\/span><span class=\"s9\">.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"> ***<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">It is now clear that McCarthy made certain agreements with no real enthusiasm or intent for future commitment but rather to secure the aspired position at which point he would control a substantial <a href=\"https:\/\/docquery.fec.gov\/cgi-bin\/forms\/C00420935\/1713405\/sa\/ALL\"><span class=\"s2\">financial asset<\/span><\/a><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>and reign supreme in supporting the globalist cabal status quo to discredit the America First agenda.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">As McCarthy failed to evolve into the leader necessary to rescue the country from its current upheaval, he failed to grasp the severity of the crisis which requires a new vision to manifest American society for the future.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>He was missing the need to revitalize the Founders\u2019 dreams, into a new level of experience as the US evolves into the universal proponent for peace, justice and human rights it was always meant to be.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">McCarthy\u2019s ties to the globalist cabal were so firmly entrenched that he lost the opportunity to become a truly historic Speaker, as third in line, to elevate the House beyond its old partisan hack mentality and into a new era responsive to the rule of law and meaningful legislative reform. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">*** <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In addition, a word about the mainstream America First crowd, alternatively referred to as MAGA, who were awakened by the Trump candidacy and have closely followed the McCarthy Speakership from its outset. They have grown intellectually and politically to understand that the RINO wing of the party are in conscious disregard for their conservative values of fiscal responsibility, a desire for world peace without their sons\/daughters coming home in a bag and a maintenance of all that made the United States, as its Founders envisioned, the greatest divinely inspired country in the world.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>They live and breathe those values; they are tenacious and loyal, impatient with mealy-mouth politicians and unforgiving if they are betrayed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>The final word:<\/span><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">\u201c<i>I take no lecture on asking patriotic Americans to weigh in and contribute to this fight. From those who would <\/i><b><i>grovel and bend the knee for the lobbyists and special interests who own our leadership<\/i><\/b><i>, and <\/i><b><i>boo all you want<\/i><\/b><i>, <\/i><b><i>who have hollowed out this town<\/i><\/b><i> and who have borrowed against the future of our future generations.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>I\u2019ll be happy to fund my political operation through the work of hardworking Americans $10 and $20 and $30 at a time.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/i><b><i>And you can all keep showing up at the lobbyists fundraisers and see how that goes for you.<\/i><\/b><i>\u201d <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/i>Rep. Matt Gaetz (Fl) on October 3, 2023<\/span><\/h3>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"p3\"><em><span class=\"s1\">Renee Parsons\u00a0served on the ACLU\u2019s Florida State Board of Directors 2013-2016 and as president of the ACLU Treasure Coast Chapter.
