In 1963, the situation was comparable. Israel was getting strong condemnations from world leaders, and heavy pressure from Kennedy\u2019s administration. In his early months at the White House, Kennedy had committed himself to President Gamal Abdel Nasser and other Arab and African heads of State to support U.N. Resolution 194 for the right of return of Palestinian refugees. In the fall of 1962, Israeli Prime Minister David Ben-Gurion had reacted to Kennedy\u2019s insistent pressure with a letter to be circulated among Jewish-American leaders, in which he stated: \u201cIsrael will regard this plan as a more serious danger to her existence than all the threats of the Arab dictators and Kings, than all the Arab armies, than all of Nasser\u2019s missiles and his Soviet MIGs. \u2026 Israel will fight against this implementation down to the last man.\u201d[15]<\/a>\u00a0On November 20, 1963, Kennedy\u2019s delegation to the United Nations was, again, urging Israel to implement Resolution 194.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n
