Bad news everyone. There are reports in China of children in Beijing and Liaoning filling up hospitals with a new\u00a0mysterious pneumonia-like illness.<\/a>\u00a0This is similar to the so-called \u201cfictional\u201d\u00a0illness<\/a>\u00a0SEERS (or Severe Epidemic Enterovirus Respiratory Syndrome). It was simulated in the pandemic exercise\u00a0Catastrophic Contagion<\/a>. From the John Hopkins\u00a0website<\/a>\u00a0\u201cThe\u00a0Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security<\/em>, in partnership with\u00a0WHO<\/em>\u00a0and the\u00a0Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation<\/em>, conducted\u00a0Catastrophic Contagion<\/a><\/em>, a pandemic tabletop exercise at the Grand Challenges Annual Meeting in Brussels, Belgium.\u201d Just like SEERS the disease predominantly effects\u00a0children<\/a>. I genuinely hope this isn\u2019t what I think it is.<\/p>\n
