{"id":210999,"date":"2024-02-14T06:54:02","date_gmt":"2024-02-14T10:54:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stateofthenation.co\/?p=210999"},"modified":"2024-02-14T06:54:02","modified_gmt":"2024-02-14T10:54:02","slug":"senate-uniparty-votes-another-national-security-catastrophe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateofthenation.co\/?p=210999","title":{"rendered":"<h1>Senate Uniparty Votes Another National Security Catastrophe<\/h1>"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more-->Renee Parsons<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Despite its lack of sharp-edged questions including revelations about his relationship with former President Donald Trump, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/news\/592102-tucker-carlsons-interview-vladimir-putin\/\"><span class=\"s2\">Tucker-Putin<\/span><\/a> conversation still managed to drive HRC and other<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>American Deep State hustlers up the wall, just as the MSM gnashed their teeth in exasperation that they themselves were<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>unfit to conduct a one-on-one as a Journalist who has achieved international status.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Putin, however, wisely used every opportunity to make his point.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Going back to 862, Putin described the origin of the Rus to extemporaneously define the evolution of his country with reference to Catherine the Great\u2019s Black Sea and Ukraine acquisitions and as an Orthodox Christian state, covering a 1,000 year period. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">If Tucker\u2019s instinctive intent was to expose Putin\u2019s authentic governance style, Putin himself remained in total command of the exchange to which few, if any, American politicians might ever aspire.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">With no comparable leader who might have addressed fellow Americans similarly as Putin or who might have conducted a corresponding diplomatic give-and-take on the world stage, the American public would, after following the Tucker-Putin interview, might legitimately feel short-changed. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">As the USSR collapse brought an end to the Cold War, the fact that the Russian Federation was no longer communist, had blossomed into a free market economy and that the ideologic divide had been eliminated \u2013 were all for naught as the Americans never viewed the geopolitical shift through the same lens.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Clearly, the Americans historically preferred an adversarial relationship with Russia\u2019s geo-military history and its natural resources as a powerful incentive.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">As NATO bombed Belgrade in 1999 fragmenting Russia\u2019s Yugoslav ally into the less influential Serbia and Kosovo, the Russians discovered their presence was not in sync with the hegemonic strategy the US and its collective west allies already had in the pipeline. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Admittedly, it would be too much to expect that the Tucker-Putin conversation might have been watched by those members most in need of introspection which would have required an actual analytical process; with an IQ not a sole determinant for intelligent decision-making.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The T-P could have provided a stimulated personal cerebral process to reconsider previous valid suppositions as misguided or just plain not in the best interests of the country. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Sen. Mike Lee\u2019s (Utah) heroic <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/news\/politics\/republican-senators-confess-they-skipped-mike-lee-s-4-hour-filibuster\/ar-BB1i8mTm\"><span class=\"s2\">four-hour filibuster<\/span><\/a> is one example of the level of engagement missing from many Electeds. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Within days of Tucker-Putin, the slothful Senate voted final approval in the early morning hours after a series of legislative gizmos by a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.senate.gov\/legislative\/LIS\/roll_call_votes\/vote1182\/vote_118_2_00048.htm#position\"><span class=\"s2\">70 \u2013 29<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/a> vote on behalf of<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>a $95 billion foreign aid \u2018<i>national security\u2019<\/i> supplemental without asking the essential question:<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>In an era of a $34 Trillion debt, define exactly where the national security interest lies?<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The remainder of the Supplemental included:<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">No closed border provision with $61 billion advocated for a futile, useless, already-done, defeated war that has exterminated at least one generation of young Ukraine boys and men. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">$14 Billion allotted for Israeli bandits who prefer American dollars rather than taxing their own citizens;<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">$2.4 Billion to remove those pesky Houthis equipped with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenationalnews.com\/world\/mena\/the-houthis-have-built-their-own-drone-industry-in-yemen-1.1032847\"><span class=\"s2\">home made<\/span><\/a> drones from their own territorial waters through the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">$4.8 Billion to run two US Navy carrier strike groups through the Taiwan Strait and the South China Sea as an example of the Looking-for-Trouble chapter in international law,<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">$9.2 Billion of sustenance in humanitarian assistance for Gaza, Ukraine and the West Bank \u2013 the majority of which will probably be intercepted by the IDF or Black Sea pirates and never reach the intended victims of US benevolence.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">And lastly, as if there were not enough unknown, undocumented immigrants crossing the border, let\u2019s provide another $4.4 Billion for travel expenses.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">If all this is added up, in the face of a $34 Trillion debt breathing hot-and-heavy on an <a href=\"https:\/\/mail.google.com\/mail\/u\/0\/#inbox\/FMfcgzGxRfDlvldGNBkbXmqZstwKzKdG\"><span class=\"s2\">imminent fiscal eruption<\/span><\/a>, it would be reasonable to inquire What is Wrong with These People? The CBO projects deficits to grow to $1.8 trillion by 2025, $2.0 trillion by 2031, and rise to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbo.gov\/publication\/58848#:~:text=CBO%2520projects%2520a%2520federal%2520budget%2520deficit%2520of%2520%25241.4,years%253B%2520the%2520shortfall%2520in%25202033%2520is%2520%25242.7%2520trillion.\"><span class=\"s2\">$2.6 trillion<\/span><\/a> by 2034 \u2013 and that\u2019s just the deficit.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Final vote on the Supplemental included twenty two Republicans (up from an earlier seventeen) and two Independents who voted Aye.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The Nay vote included Twenty six Republicans, 1 Independent and 2 Democrats.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>All Republican aye votes were from Red States, the majority of whom vote with Democrats on a regular basis leaving behind the question whether those Red Senators were accurately representing their constituents.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>The 2024 Senate election will see twenty Democrats. ten Republicans and three Independents running for re-election.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>The states of California, Delaware, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Utah and West Virginia have no Senate incumbent candidate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Stepping back into reality which is not even a word in my thesaurus, what does that tell us.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>It tells us there are a predominance of Uniparty Republicans in Congress, almost all of whom are from staunch Republican<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>States who routinely and repeatedly commit political hari-kari by voting with the Democrats \u2013 and getting away with it.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>None of that matters since the bottom line is whether their funding from the MIC will continue at a comfort level to increase the value of their vote.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s3\"><i><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/span><span class=\"s1\">As if proving the speculation that he had not viewed the Tucker-Putin conversation,<\/span><span class=\"s3\"><i> \u201c<\/i><\/span><span class=\"s1\"><i>Today we make [Russian President] Vladimir Putin regret the day he questioned America\u2019s resolve, and we make clear to others, like China\u2019s President Xi [Jinping], not to test our determination,\u201d<\/i>\u00a0Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said in a speech after the vote.\u00a0<i>\u201cAnd we send a clear, bipartisan message of resolve to our allies in NATO<\/i>.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>In other words, the Hegemon is alive but not as well as it would like to believe<i>.<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p class=\"p3\"><span class=\"s4\"><b><i><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/i><\/b><\/span><span class=\"s5\"><i>Renee Parsons\u00a0served on the ACLU\u2019s Florida State Board of Directors and as president of the ACLU Treasure Coast Chapter.
