DeSantis Sounds Alarm over Disturbing Discovery on Haitian \u2018Migrant\u2019 Boat Seized off Florida Coast<\/h1>\n

Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis has sounded the alarm after Florida authorities intercepted and seized a Haitian \u201cmigrant\u201d boat that was heading for his state.<\/p>\n

On board the vessel, carrying dozens of military-aged men from Haiti, law enforcement discovered firearms, night vision gear, and drugs.<\/p>\n

The boat was seized by Florida Fish and Wildlife offices, DeSantis revealed.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn their vessel they had firearms, they had drugs, they had night vision gear and were boating very recklessly, which would potentially endanger other folks,\u201d DeSantis said.<\/p>\n

The governor added that the interdiction had occurred \u201crecently\u201d in the last few weeks.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat vessel was interdicted near the Sebastian Inlet and those illegal aliens were turned over to the Coast Guard for deportation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

DeSantis made the announcement at a press conference in which he also signed three pieces of legislation to deter illegal immigration into the Sunshine State.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, DeSantis announced an increase of personnel and aircraft to the Florida coast.<\/p>\n

The move comes in light of unrest in Haiti and the potential for an increase in migration via the sea from the conflict-hit country<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Caribbean nation has seen a significant escalation in violence as gangs have overrun the capital, burning police stations and attacking the main airport.<\/p>\n

Gangs have also raided some of the largest prisons, releasing thousands of inmates.<\/p>\n
