Fauci suggests goggles, eye shield for better protection against coronavirus<\/h1>\n

The CDC already recommends wearing a face mask in public<\/h3>\n

Dr.\u00a0Anthony Fauci<\/a>, the nation\u2019s top infectious disease expert, this week said wearing goggles or an eye shield in addition to a face mask would provide better protection against the\u00a0coronavirus<\/a>, according to a report.<\/p>\n

\u201cTheoretically you should protect all of the mucosal surfaces [eyes, nose, mouth], so if you have goggles or an eye shield, you should use it,\u201d he said in an interview with ABC News on Instagram Wednesday.<\/p>\n

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention already recommends wearing a face mask that covers the nose and mouth in public, but the virus can also enter through the eyes.<\/p>\n

Fauci recommended goggles in addition to a face mask for those who want \u201cperfect protection\u201d from the COVID-19, but admitted it\u2019s not \u201cuniversally recommended.\u201d<\/p>\n
