Delaware Judge Lets More Than 70,000 Zantac Lawsuits Go Forward + More"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<h3><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/legal\/delaware-judge-lets-more-than-70000-zantac-lawsuits-go-forward-2024-06-01\/\">READ HERE<\/a><\/strong>: A Delaware judge has allowed more than 70,000 lawsuits over discontinued heartburn drug Zantac to go forward, ruling that expert witnesses can testify in court that the drug may cause <a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/defender\/young-people-cancer-crisis-pierre-kory-mary-beth-pfeiffer\/\">cancer<\/a>.<\/h3>\n<h3>The ruling on Friday by Judge Vivian Medinilla of the Delaware Superior Court in Wilmington is a setback for former Zantac makers <a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/defender\/rsv-emergency-vaccine-race-pfizer-gsk\/\">GSK<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/markets\/companies\/GSK.L\">(GSK.L<\/a>), <a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/defender\/pfizer-online-drug-sales-direct-to-consumers\/\">Pfizer<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/markets\/companies\/PFE.N\">(PFE.N)<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/defender\/rsv-emergency-vaccine-race-pfizer-gsk\/\">Sanofi<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/markets\/companies\/SASY.PA\">(SASY.PA)<\/a> and Boehringer Ingelheim, which had argued that the expert witnesses\u2019 opinions lacked scientific support.<\/h3>\n<h3>\u201cThis moves us one step closer to justice for our clients,\u201d Brent Wisner, one of the plaintiffs\u2019 lead lawyers, said in a statement on Saturday.<\/h3>\n<h3>Lawsuits began piling up from people who said they developed cancer after taking Zantac. Plaintiffs said the companies knew, or should have known, that ranitidine posed a cancer risk and that they failed to warn consumers.
