READ HERE:<\/a> Time is running out<\/strong>\u00a0for the\u00a0International Longshoremen’s Association (ILA) and the US Maritime Alliance (USMX)\u2014a coalition of port operators and carriers\u2014to form a new labor contract as the existing one\u00a0expires at midnight<\/strong>. A no-deal scenario would mean\u00a0thousands of longshoremen<\/strong>\u00a0at\u00a0three dozen facilities\u00a0across 14 Gulf and East Coast ports would begin striking at\u00a012:01 am EST<\/strong>. Tuesday would mark the beginning of a major supply chain storm (inflation surge) in a no-deal scenario.<\/p>\n

Goldman analyst explained last week that a walkout by ILA members would\u00a0jeopardize $5 billion in daily international trade<\/strong>\u00a0coming into the Gulf and East Coast ports.<\/p>\n

Goldman’s Jordan Alliger\u00a0told clients<\/a>,\u00a0“Upwards of $4.9bn per day is at risk in international trade<\/strong>\u00a0along the East and Gulf coasts, along with the potential for\u00a0supply chains to likely become less fluid due to emergent congestion, which in turn could result in a re-emergence of transport price inflation.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

“The\u00a0biggest wild card in the presidential election<\/strong>\u00a0that nobody’s talking about? The\u00a0looming port strike that could shut down<\/strong>\u00a0all East and Gulf Coast ports just 36 days before the election,”\u00a0Flexport CEO\u00a0Ryan Petersen wrote on X earlier this month.<\/p>\n
