WILLIAMS, PH.D<br \/>\nBreitbart.com<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"subheading\">An extensive new survey revealed that nine out of ten medics in Belgium believe it is morally \u201cacceptable\u201d to take the life of a newborn baby born with a serious but non-lethal disability.<\/h3>\n<p>A team of researchers surveyed medics at all eight of the Neonatal Intensive Care Units in the Flanders region of Belgium and found that 89.1 per cent thought it morally proper to kill disabled newborns, a process euphemistically described as\u00a0\u201cafter-birth abortion\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The response rate to the survey was very high (79 per cent) and all respondents were either physicians (51.1 per cent) or paramedical professionals (49.9 per cent).<\/p>\n<p>All of those taking part in the survey are involved in caring for babies born with a serious health condition and are designated as decision-makers for late-term abortions, the Christian Institute\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.christian.org.uk\/news\/9-in-10-belgian-medics-support-after-birth-abortion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\">reported<\/a>\u00a0on Friday.<\/p>\n<div class=\"twitter-tweet twitter-tweet-rendered\"><iframe id=\"twitter-widget-0\" class=\"\" title=\"Twitter Tweet\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/embed\/index.html?creatorScreenName=tdwilliamsrome&amp;dnt=true&amp;embedId=twitter-widget-0&amp;frame=false&amp;hideCard=false&amp;hideThread=false&amp;id=732228440527605760&amp;lang=en&amp;origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.breitbart.com%2Feurope%2F2020%2F08%2F22%2Freport-90-of-belgian-medics-support-infanticide-of-babies-with-disabilities%2F&amp;siteScreenName=BreitbartNews&amp;theme=light&amp;widgetsVersion=223fc1c4%3A1596143124634&amp;width=550px\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-tweet-id=\"732228440527605760\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>The\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/obgyn.onlinelibrary.wiley.com\/doi\/full\/10.1111\/aogs.13967\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\">study<\/a>, which set out to discover \u201cHealthcare professionals\u2019 attitudes towards termination of pregnancy at viable stage\u201d, found that medics working in this area of care had \u201ca high degree of tolerance\u201d for late-term abortions, with nearly all (95.6 per cent) saying they are open to the practice if an unborn baby\u2019s disability is deemed \u201cserious but not lethal\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Among its conclusions, the study found that healthcare professionals practising late late-term abortions in Flanders \u201care demanding legislative change regarding active life\u2010ending in the fetal and neonatal periods\u201d \u2014 meaning greater leeway to commit infanticide when they deem it appropriate.<\/p>\n<p>The Belgian study mirrors results of a similar British\u00a0<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/jme.bmj.com\/content\/39\/5\/261\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer\">study<\/a>\u00a0conducted in 2012 and published by the\u00a0<em>British Medical Journal\u00a0<\/em>(BMJ).<\/p>\n<p>That study expressly affirmed that foetuses and newborn babies \u201cdo not have the same moral status as actual persons\u201d and are, in fact, merely \u201cpotential persons\u201d and therefore \u201cmorally irrelevant.\u201d With this premise in mind, the authors \u201cargue that what we call \u2018after-birth abortion\u2019 (killing a newborn) should be permissible in all the cases where abortion is, including cases where the newborn is not disabled.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A Right To Life UK spokeswoman said it is \u201cprofoundly disturbing that these healthcare professionals, who should be upholding the right to life and giving every baby the best possible chance at life, are hugely in favour of \u2018after-birth abortions\u2019 and infanticide of babies with a disability.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It is tragic that \u201cintentionally ending the life of an unborn baby\u201d has become \u201cmorally acceptable by these healthcare professionals in Belgium,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Regulator Says UK Abortion Provider Paid Staff Bonuses to Encourage Terminations, Harassed Mothers<br \/> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/m4T7wC0VKW\">https:\/\/t.co\/m4T7wC0VKW<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash;
