Firework smoke still lingered in the sky over Mount Rushmore as journalists began their daily routine of story-spinning, as if their very lives depended on headlines reflecting the exact opposite of true events. President Donald Trump\u2019s pro-America speech, dripping with unity and patriotism, was decried in legacy media as diabolical.<\/p>\n

Just moments after the star-spangled spectacle, The New York Times blasted out a news alert, calling the president\u2019s remarks \u201cdark and divisive\u201d and condemning his Independence Day speech as insufficiently focused on the Wuhan virus. ABC News\u00a0claimed<\/a>\u00a0\u201cTrump pushe[d] racial division\u201d and defied pandemic rules, while the Washington Post opted for \u201cdark\u201d descriptors and\u00a0blamed<\/a>\u00a0Trump for \u201cexploit[ing] social divisions.\u201d<\/p>\n
