Documents Show Former Officials “In Real Trouble” In Durham Investigation: Meadows<\/h1>\n

Newly reviewed documents show that former FBI agent\u00a0Peter Strzok and other officials involved in the counter-intelligence probe against Donald Trump\u2019s 2016 presidential campaign are in trouble,<\/strong>\u00a0White House chief of staff\u00a0Mark Meadows<\/a>\u00a0said.<\/p>\n

U.S. Attorney John Durham is reviewing the origins of that investigation and landed his first guilty plea last month.<\/p>\n

While he doesn\u2019t have visibility into the timeline of Durham\u2019s probe, Meadows said he\u2019s reviewed additional documents that \u201csay that a number of the players, the Peter Strzoks, the Andy McCabes, the James Comeys – and even others in the administration previously – are in real trouble because of their willingness to participate in an unlawful act.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I use the word unlawful at best, it broke all kinds of protocols and at worst people should go to jail as I mentioned previously,\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>Meadows\u00a0said during a virtual appearance on Fox Business\u2019 \u201cMornings With Maria\u201d on Monday.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Strzok, McCabe, and Comey are former high-level FBI officials.<\/p>\n

Strzok, best known for exchanging biased text messages about Trump with an FBI lawyer he was having an affair with,\u00a0was fired<\/a>\u00a0by FBI officials in 2018.<\/p>\n

The former agent sat down for an interview with CBS that ran over the weekend. He\u00a0insisted<\/a>\u00a0that the counter-intelligence probe, dubbed Crossfire Hurricane, was opened on a legitimate basis.<\/p>\n

Meadows said it was easy for Strzok to make claims when not under oath.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn all of his interview, I can tell you this: It\u2019s not backed up by the facts. It\u2019s not backed up by documents that I\u2019ve seen. And ultimately his house of cards will come falling down,\u201d<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0Meadows said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The facts that have come out show that officials treated Trump\u00a0\u201cvery differently, in an inappropriate way, and they must be held accountable,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Durham\u2019s criminal investigation is being\u00a0kept under tight wraps,<\/strong>\u00a0prompting much speculation about when another development will come, or even if any other people will be charged.<\/p>\n

Trey Gowdy, a Fox News contributor who used to serve in the House of Representatives, said over the weekend that there\u2019s concern that Durham \u201cis dragging his feet.\u201d<\/p>\n

Durham, he said, \u201cis going to access documents that the FBI never shared with Congress and he\u2019ll write the definitive accounting of what happened.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhether or not there\u2019ll be more indictments or not, I don\u2019t know and I like to assume that there will not be,\u201d he said, adding: \u201cThat puts me in a small minority, but I\u2019m assuming that the Clinesmith indictment will be the only one.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kevin Clinesmith recently\u00a0pleaded guilty<\/a>\u00a0to altering an email to say Carter Page, a former Trump campaign adviser, was not a CIA asset when the CIA had said the exact opposite.<\/p>\n

The altered email was used to obtain spy warrants against Page, enabling the FBI to conduct surveillance against Page and people he was linked to in the future and past.<\/p>\n

Meadows, meanwhile, said Trump supports the declassification of all documents,<\/strong>\u00a0along with full transparency.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe has nothing to hide,\u201d<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe\u00a0said last week<\/a>\u00a0that he\u2019s coordinating with Durham to declassify more documents.<\/p>\n
