Portland Protester Jailed For Injuring Officer With ‘High-Powered Laser’ Capable Of Burning Clothes<\/h1>\n

A Portland man has been\u00a0indicted by a grand jury<\/a>\u00a0for an attack on a police officer using a high powered laser during protests last month.<\/p>\n

36-year old Bryan Kelley allegedly\u00a0pointed a laser into an officer’s eyes that so powerful it can cause permanent blindness<\/strong>, and possibly strong enough to burn through clothing and protective equipment.<\/p>\n

Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt\u00a0described<\/a>\u00a0the laser as\u00a0“so powerful that it would burn through paper and cause dry material to catch fire.”\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Portland Police department went so far as to post a video to YouTube demonstrating the laser’s power in action. The device is seen in the demonstration\u00a0burning holes in a thick piece of cardboard in a mere couple seconds<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
