ROME (ChurchMilitant.com<\/a>) –\u00a0Italy’s biggest Masonic lodge is eulogizing Pope Francis’ encyclical\u00a0Fratelli Tutti<\/em><\/a>\u00a0(All Brothers) as “close to the ideals that have constituted the very foundations of\u00a0Freemasonr<\/a>y from the very beginning.”<\/p>\n Titled “A Masonic Value<\/a>,” the cover article in the October issue of the Grand Orient lodge’s journal\u00a0Erasmus<\/a>\u00a0extols the pope for expressing “apertis verbis<\/em>” (in explicit words) a “key to universal fraternity” consistent with the doctrine of Freemasonry.<\/p>\n Fratelli Tutti<\/em>\u00a0has “many similarities with Masonic principles and vision,” Erasmus notes, explaining how “for over 300 years the principle of fraternity has been indelibly written in the Masonic triad placed … in the temples together with those of liberty and equality.”<\/p>\n “The realization of a universal brotherhood is from the origins of the great mission and the great dream of Freemasonry,” it underscores.<\/p>\n The commendation from Italy’s biggest lodge for the recent encyclical follows close on the heels of an\u00a0endorsement<\/a>\u00a0from Spain’s main lodge, the Gran Logia de Espa\u00f1a, which claimed that the encyclical “demonstrates how far away the present Catholic Church is from its former positions.”<\/p>\n “In\u00a0Fratelli Tutti<\/em>, the pope embraces universal fraternity \u2014 the great principle of modern Freemasonry,” the lodge’s\u00a0official statement<\/a>\u00a0declared.<\/p>\n In May, Italy’s Grand Orient lodge’s journal\u00a0Nuovo Hiram<\/a>\u00a0extolled<\/a>\u00a0Pope Francis’ Abu Dhabi “Human Fraternity” pact with Grand Imam Ahmad al-Tayyeb as “a turning point in civilization because it will open a new era” if applied.<\/p>\n Eight popes in the course of 200 years have issued\u00a020 legal interdicts<\/a>\u00a0condemning<\/a>\u00a0Freemasonry and never have any of the pronouncements been revoked.<\/p>\n The Erasmus article cites the\u00a0falsified version of St. Francis of Assisi’s visit to Sultan Malik al-Kamil<\/a>\u00a0in Egypt, which claims the saint visited the Sultan for dialogue, not evangelism.<\/p>\n The article gushes over the pontiff’s “openness to Islam,” observing that “Bergoglio in the encyclical does not hesitate to acknowledge that he felt inspired in a special way” by the grand imam of al-Azhar Ahmad Al-Tayyeb, with whom he signed his\u00a0Human Fraternity document<\/a>\u00a0in Abu Dhabi in 2019.<\/p>\n![\"Image\"](\"https:\/\/www.churchmilitant.com\/images\/uploads\/news_feature\/190930_audienz_03_farbe-1200.jpg\")
