New York Sheriffs Refuse to Enforce Cuomo’s Thanksgiving COVID Order<\/h1>\n

Several county sheriffs in New York State are saying they will not enforce Governor Andrew Cuomo\u2019s executive order that limits Thanksgiving Day gatherings to 10 people or less.<\/p>\n

Saratoga County Sheriff Michael Zurlo summed up the sheriffs\u2019 objections nicely. \u201cI can\u2019t see how devoting our resources to counting cars in citizens\u2019 driveways or investigating how much turkey and dressing they\u2019ve purchased is for the public good,\u201d Zurlo said in a press release.<\/p>\n

This has nothing to do with \u201cvirus fatigue,\u201d it\u2019s a common-sense rebellion against insanity.<\/p>\n

In a scathing Facebook post on Saturday, Fulton County Sheriff Richard Giardino questioned the legality of Gov. Andrew Cuomo\u2019s\u00a0newly instituted 10-person cap<\/a>\u00a0on parties and other gatherings in private residences.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrankly, I am not sure it could sustain a Constitutional challenge in Court for several reasons including your house is your castle,\u201d\u00a0the sheriff wrote<\/a>\u00a0in the Saturday post.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd as a Sheriff with a law degree I couldn\u2019t in good faith attempt to defend it Court, so I won\u2019t,\u201d he said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The time has passed when grasping politicians can use the public health crisis to impose unconstitutional restrictions on citizens. The Great Virus Scare of 2020 is over and if Joe Biden tries to bring it back, he won\u2019t find meek and mild sheep doing everything the experts are telling them to do.<\/p>\n

This, from a Mississippi public health official is typical of the scaremongering that isn\u2019t going to work anymore: \u201cIt\u2019s going to happen. You\u2019re going to say hi at Thanksgiving, it\u2019s so nice to see you, and you\u2019re either going to be visiting her by Facetime in the ICU or planning a small funeral by Christmas,\u201d the MSMA president said.<\/p>\n

As for the sheriffs, they\u2019re telling Cuomo that if he wants to keep people apart, he can do it himself.<\/p>\n

Giardino noted his office, with limited resources, has scant legal options to enter private homes other than search warrants, invitations or under an \u201cemergency circumstance.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have limited resources and we have to set priorities, so obtaining a Search Warrant to enter your home to see how many Turkey or Tofu eaters are present is not a priority,\u201d Giardino wrote.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This is something Cuomo would know if he weren\u2019t such an arrogant, elitist, snob. Apparently, he thinks that simply by snapping his fingers and issuing a decree, his will becomes law.\u00a0Sic Semper Tyrannus<\/em>, baby.<\/p>\n

I have no intention of visiting anyone at Thanksgiving, but that\u2019s my choice. I would suggest that if you do visit relatives that you take simple, common-sense precautions. As far as \u201cplanning a small funeral by Christmas\u201d for those who want to visit, Cuomo and other public health dragoons might be surprised at the number of older people with pre-existing conditions who have decided to stay home \u2014 all on their own without any help from the government in making the choice.<\/p>\n

Turns out most citizens in America aren\u2019t ten-year-old children who constantly have to be told what to do.<\/p>\n
