listing his father, President-elect Joe Biden, Jill Biden and his uncle, Jim Biden,\u00a0for space he planned to share with an &#8220;emissary&#8221; for a chairman of a Chinese energy company, according to an email obtained by Fox News.<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">The Sept. 20, 2017\u00a0email, obtained by Fox News, shows\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/hunter-biden-tax-affairs-under-federal-investigation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Hunter<\/a>\u00a0requesting keys for Joe and Jill Biden, along with his uncle, Jim Biden, to the general manager, Cecilia Browning, at the House of Sweden &#8212; a building in Washington, D.C., which contains multiple office suites, as well as a number of embassies.<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">\u201c[P]lease have keys made available for new office mates: Joe Biden, Jill Biden, Jim Biden,\u201d said the email, with the subject \u201c507.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"image-ct inline\">\n<div class=\"m\"><picture><source srcset=\"https:\/\/a57.foxnews.com\/static.foxnews.com\/foxnews.com\/content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/1470\/828\/FullSizeRender-8.jpeg?ve=1&amp;tl=1 2x\" media=\"(max-width: 767px)\" \/><source srcset=\"https:\/\/a57.foxnews.com\/static.foxnews.com\/foxnews.com\/content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/1862\/1048\/FullSizeRender-8.jpeg?ve=1&amp;tl=1 2x\" media=\"(min-width: 767px)\" \/><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/a57.foxnews.com\/static.foxnews.com\/foxnews.com\/content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/640\/320\/FullSizeRender-8.jpeg?ve=1&amp;tl=1\" alt=\"\" \/><\/picture><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2020\/12\/11\/hunter-joe-biden-cefc-office-mates\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">email<\/a>\u00a0was first reported on by The Daily Caller.<\/p>\n<p>In the email, Hunter Biden also requests keys for Gongwen Dong, whom he describes as an \u201cemissary\u201d for Chairman Ye Jianming &#8212; the chairman of CEFC Chinese Energy Co.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would like the office sign to reflect the following,\u201d he continued, requesting \u201cThe Biden Foundation\u201d and \u201cHudson West (CEFC US).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe lease will remain under my company\u2019s name Rosemont Seneca,\u201d he continued, providing details about Dong and Ye, whom he referred to as &#8220;my partner,&#8221; However, they declined to\u00a0share further information.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHouse of Sweden is owned and managed by National Property Board Sweden,\u201d general manager Cecilia Browning said in a statement to Fox News. \u201cWe have tenants who rent office space, and it is correct that Rosemont Seneca LLC rented an office at House of Sweden between February 2017 \u2013 February 2018.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Browning added: \u201cHowever, please note that we do not share information about current and previous tenants.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A source familiar with the Biden Foundation told Fox News that they used office space, at the time, in a WeWork space near the White House, and in an office within law firm Perkins Coie, saying there was no relation to the office space at Rosemont Seneca within the House of Sweden.<\/p>\n<p>Joe Biden has repeatedly denied being involved with his son\u2019s business dealings.<\/p>\n<p>Hunter Biden\u2019s business associations with Chairman Ye Jianming, Gongwen Dong, and other Chinese nationals, according to the Senate Homeland Security and Finance committees, \u201cresulted in millions of dollars in questionable transactions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The committees also found, as part of their investigation into the younger Biden\u2019s foreign business dealings, that he opened a bank account with Dong which financed a $100,000 global spending spree with his uncle, Jim Biden, and Jim Biden&#8217;s wife, Sara.<\/p>\n<p>The new email\u00a0comes after Hunter Biden, in a statement this week, revealed that the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office in Delaware is investigating his\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/hunter-biden-tax-affairs-under-federal-investigation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u201ctax affairs,\u201d<\/a>\u00a0and said that he is taking the matter \u201cvery seriously\u201d and is \u201cconfident\u201d he handled his affairs \u201clegally and appropriately.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI learned yesterday for the first time that the U.S. Attorney\u2019s Office in Delaware advised my legal counsel, also yesterday, that they are investigating my tax affairs,\u201d Hunter Biden said in a statement. \u201cI take this matter very seriously but I am confident that a professional and objective review of these matters will demonstrate that I handled my affairs legally and appropriately, including with the benefit of professional tax advisors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A well-placed government source told\u00a0Fox News that Hunter Biden is a subject\/target of the grand jury investigation.\u00a0According to the source, a &#8220;target&#8221; means that there is a &#8220;high probability that person committed a crime,&#8221; while a &#8220;subject&#8221; is someone you &#8220;don&#8217;t know for sure&#8221; has committed a crime.<\/p>\n<p>The source said President-elect Biden is not a subject of any grand jury investigation at this time.<\/p>\n<p>The source also told Fox News that this investigation was predicated, in part, by Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) regarding suspicious foreign transactions.<\/p>\n<p>Another source familiar with the investigation told\u00a0Fox News that the SARs were regarding funds from &#8220;China and other foreign nations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A Treasury Department official, who did not comment on the investigation, spoke broadly about SARs, telling Fox News that\u00a0SARs are\u00a0filed by financial\u00a0institutions &#8220;if there is something out of the ordinary about a particular transaction.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The official told Fox News that the mere filing of a SAR does not mean there has been a criminal act, or violation of regulations, but instead, flags that a transaction is &#8220;out of the ordinary&#8221; for the customer.\u00a0The official noted, though, that a SAR could be part of a money laundering or\u00a0tax investigation.<\/p>\n<p>The investigation, according to a source familiar with the matter, began in 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Two sources familiar with the investigation told\u00a0Fox News that the investigation\u00a0includes looking at the laptop purportedly belonging to Hunter Biden.<\/p>\n<p>In October, Fox News first reported that the FBI subpoenaed a laptop and hard drive purportedly belonging to Hunter Biden in connection with a money-laundering investigation in late 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the date of the email requesting additional \u201ckeys\u201d for his father, who did not hold public office at the time of the request\u2014Sept. 21, 2017\u2014comes just months after a May 2, 2017 meeting about a partnership between the CEFC Chairman Ye and Hunter, Jim Biden and Joe Biden. Fox News first reported the meeting.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-container desktop\"><\/div>\n<p>Fox News obtained text messages from Tony Bobulinski, a retired lieutenant in the U.S. Navy and the former CEO of SinoHawk Holdings, which he said was the partnership between the CEFC\/Chairman Ye and Hunter Biden and Jim Biden.<\/p>\n<p>The messages\u00a0seem\u00a0to indicate that\u00a0a meeting took place, though it&#8217;s unclear what the substance of the meeting may have been.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMrng plse let me knw if we will do early dinner w your Uncle &amp; dad and where, also for document translation do you want it simple Chinese or traditional?\u201d Bobulinski texted Hunter Biden on May 2, 2017.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNot sure on dinner yet and whatever is the most common for a Chinese legal DOC,\u201d Hunter Biden replied.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChinese legal docs can be both, i\u2019ll make it traditional,\u201d Bobulinski said.<\/p>\n<p>Hunter replied: \u201cDad not in now until 11- let\u2019s me I and Jim meet at 10 at Beverly Hilton where he\u2019s staying.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-container desktop\"><\/div>\n<p>Later, Bobulinski sent a text to Jim Biden on the same day, May 2, 2017, saying: \u201cGreat to meet u and spend some time together, please thank Joe for his time, was great to talk thx Tony b.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The following day, May 3, 2017, Bobulinski sent another text to Jim Biden, saying: &#8220;Morning, please let me know all set for things this mrng. I don&#8217;t have credentials to get into Milken so just want to make sure not an issue to get me in, where should we meet this mrng?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Milken&#8221; was in reference to the 2017 Global Conference, which, in part, was held\u00a0at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, according to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/milkeninstitute.org\/global-conference-2017-program\">program<\/a>\u00a0directory.<\/p>\n<p>Joe Biden, on May 3, 2017, spoke at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/milkeninstitute.org\/global-conference-2017-program\">conference,<\/a>\u00a0hosting\u00a0&#8220;A Conversation with the 47th Vice President of the United States Joe Biden.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>That meeting on May 2, 2017\u00a0would have taken place just 11 days before the May 13, 2017 email, also obtained by Fox News, which included a discussion of \u201cremuneration packages\u201d for six people in a business deal with a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/category\/world\/world-regions\/china\">Chinese<\/a> energy firm. The email appeared to identify Biden as \u201cChair \/ Vice Chair depending on agreement with CEFC,\u201d in an apparent reference to now-bankrupt CEFC China Energy Co.<\/p>\n<p>The email includes a note that \u201cHunter has some office expectations he will elaborate.\u201d A proposed equity split references \u201c20\u201d for \u201cH\u201d and \u201c10 held by H for the big guy?\u201d with no further details.
