Rep. Mo Brooks, R-Ala., who has alleged widespread fraud in the Nov. 3 election,\u00a0on Wednesday said he\u2019s \u201coptimistic\u201d there will ultimately be challenges to the Jan. 6 certification by Congress of Joe Biden as the next president.<\/p>\n
In an interview on Newsmax TV<\/a>\u2019s \u201cAmerican Agenda<\/a>,\u201d Brooks declared he was \u201cnot a member of the surrender caucus.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cAny two people, one congressman and one senator, who object can force a House floor or Senate floor vote,\u201d he said of the strategy.<\/p>\n \u201cI am more than happy, along with a significant number of my colleagues, to object\u201d in the House meeting on Jan. 6.<\/p>\n \u201cThe question is whether a senator is also willing to stand up and fight for their country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m fairly optimistic that there will be one or more senators who will be willing to object \u2026 we\u2019ll see how it plays out,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n Brooks also pushed back on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell\u2019s warning not to take that step.<\/p>\n \u201cWe can fight for our republic or we could surrender,\u201d Brooks said in response to the Kentucky Republican’s comments. \u201cI am not a member of the surrender caucus.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cIf you fight, you have a chance for success,\u201d he said. \u201cThere is no republic in America if elections can be stolen.\u201d<\/p>\n
