{"id":42380,"date":"2020-12-18T15:58:21","date_gmt":"2020-12-18T19:58:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stateofthenation.co\/?p=42380"},"modified":"2020-12-18T16:02:28","modified_gmt":"2020-12-18T20:02:28","slug":"are-we-really-supposed-to-believe-that-mike-pence-took-the-covid-vaccine-any-covid-vax","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateofthenation.co\/?p=42380","title":{"rendered":"Are we really supposed to believe that Mike Pence took the Covid vaccine&#8230;any Covid vax?!"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Vice President Pence receives COVID-19 vaccine<\/h1>\n<p><!--more-->By Lia Eustachewich<br \/>\nNew York Post<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/players.brightcove.net\/4137224153001\/6aIMRO3kiI_default\/index.html?videoId=6217127551001\" width=\"618\" height=\"348\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Vice President Mike Pence received the COVID-19 vaccine on live TV Friday morning in a move designed to instill confidence in the American public that the newly approved shot is safe.<\/p>\n<p>Pence, second lady Karen Pence and Surgeon General Jerome Adams took turns getting jabbed at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building near the White House.<\/p>\n<p>They became the first high-ranking White House officials to receive the vaccine, developed by Pfizer and BioNTech and approved for use in the US a week ago.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t feel a thing, well done,\u201d Pence said afterward. \u201cMake no mistake about it. It\u2019s a medical miracle.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added, \u201cToday, Karen and I wanted to step forward and take this vaccine to assure the American people while we cut red tape, we cut no corners.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe American people can be confident we have one \u2014 and perhaps in hours two \u2014 safe and effective coronavirus vaccines for you and for your family,\u201d the vice president said, referring to Moderna\u2019s vaccine, which\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2020\/12\/17\/fda-panel-recommends-approving-moderna-covid-19-vaccine\/\">was recommended for FDA approval Thursday.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Adams issued a heartfelt thanks to the researchers who\u2019ve developed the Pfizer vaccine, noting he\u2019s at higher risk for a serious case of COVID-19 with his history of asthma and high blood pressure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am acutely aware of my own increased risk of COVID-19 exposures and the comorbidity that increase my risk of complications,\u201d he said. \u201cAs the US surgeon general and a black man, I am equally aware of the symbolic significance of my vaccination today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, Pence toured a vaccine production facility in Indiana.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe last thing I would say to every American is be confident that we have cut red tape, but we\u2019ve cut no corners when it comes to the development of this vaccine,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>President-elect Joe Biden is set to receive the inoculation next week in a public setting,<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2020\/12\/18\/politics\/mike-pence-coronavirus-vaccination\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u00a0according to CNN,<\/a>\u00a0while Vice class=\"wp-caption-text\">AP<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation\u2019s leading infectious diseases expert, said Biden and Harris<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2020\/12\/15\/fauci-biden-harris-and-trump-should-get-covid-19-vaccine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u00a0should get vaccinated<\/a>\u00a0as soon as possible \u201cfor security reasons\u201d and before they take office next month.<\/p>\n<p>Fauci said Trump should also plan on getting vaccinated even though there isn\u2019t enough research on whether those who had the virus, like Trump, should get the vaccine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven though the president himself was infected, and he has, likely, antibodies that likely would be protective, we\u2019re not sure how long that protection lasts,\u201d Fauci told ABC News recently. \u201cSo, to be doubly sure, I would recommend that he get vaccinated as well as the vice
