NY Post Urges Trump to Concede<\/strong><\/h1>\n

President Donald Trump\u2019s continued effort to overturn the Nov. 3 election results got a front-page rebuke from one his most loyal backers: the New York Post.<\/p>\n

\u201cMr. President, it\u2019s time to end this dark charade,\u201d the New York City tabloid\u2019s editorial board wrote in Monday\u2019s edition. The paper, which endorsed Trump for president, tells Trump to \u201cGive it up,\u201d adding \u201cfor your sake and the nation\u2019s.\u201d<\/p>\n

Trump is a regular reader of the New York Post. When he cut off White House subscriptions to certain newspapers last year, the Post wasn\u2019t one of them. Paper copies have been delivered to the White House throughout his presidency.<\/p>\n

Before the election, a columnist for the newspaper, owned by Rupert Murdoch\u2019s News Corp., called Trump an \u201cinvincible hero.\u201d Murdoch is also the founder and owner of Fox News, which has come under heavy fire from Trump and conservative viewers for their coverage of the president and the election this year.<\/p>\n

The paper had also made a controversial decision to publish an expose on the contents of the laptop said to belong to President-elect Joe Biden\u2019s son, Hunter — information the Post said was provided by Trump\u2019s lawyer Rudy Giuliani.<\/p>\n

Since Joe Biden\u2019s victory, however, the Post has been backing away form Trump and his continued unfounded claims of fraud.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou had every right to investigate the election. But let\u2019s be clear: Those efforts have found nothing,\u201d the Post said Monday. \u201cTo take just two examples: Your campaign paid $3 million for a recount in two Wisconsin counties, and you lost by 87 more votes. Georgia did two recounts of the state, each time affirming Biden\u2019s win. These ballots were counted by hand, which alone debunks the claims of a Venezuelan vote-manipulating Kraken conspiracy.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Post warned Trump that by focusing on Congress\u2019s normally pro forma certification of the Electoral College results on Jan. 6 in an attempt to persuade lawmakers to throw out the election results, he\u2019s taking attention away from the Jan. 5 run-off election for two U.S. Senate seats in Georgia that are key to Republican efforts to control the chamber.<\/p>\n

If the GOP loses in Georgia, Trump\u2019s legacy will be undone by a Democratic Congress, the paper said.<\/p>\n

\u201cDemocrats will try to write you off as a one-term aberration and, frankly, you\u2019re helping them do it,\u201d the Post editorial said. \u201cThe King Lear of Mar-a-Lago, ranting about the corruption of the world.\u201d<\/p>\n
