A Delaware computer repairman who went public with the sordid contents of Hunter Biden\u2019s hard drive is now suing Twitter for defamation \u2014 claiming its content moderation unfairly branded him a \u201chacker.\u201d<\/p>\n
In October, the Post\u00a0exclusively reported<\/a>\u00a0on the tranche of damaging documents on the laptop which was left at John Paul Mac Isaac\u2019s repair store in April 2019 but never collected.<\/p>\n The emails detailing Hunter Biden\u2019s shady overseas business dealings are reportedly now part of a\u00a0federal tax probe<\/a>\u00a0into President-elect Joe Biden\u2019s scandal-scarred son but social media giant Twitter immediately blocked users from sharing it online, claiming the reporting relied on \u201chacked materials.\u201d<\/p>\n Isaac is now suing Twitter for defamation in US District Court, claiming the company decided to \u201ccommunicate to the world that [Mac Isaac] is a hacker.\u201d<\/p>\n Issac claimed that his business received threats and negative reviews after Twitter\u2019s moderation and he is \u201cnow widely considered a hacker.\u201d He also suffered from personal threats.<\/p>\n In his suit, the Delaware man said he was forced to close his store and alleges that Twitter acted with \u201cmalicious intent\u201d by claiming that he had hacked Hunter Biden\u2019s laptop.<\/p>\n According to the report, Issac says that his business received threats and negative reviews after Twitter\u2019s moderation and he is \u201cnow widely considered a hacker.\u201d<\/p>\n He is demanding $500 million in damages and a public retraction from the company.<\/p>\n According to Issac, the\u00a0customer who brought in the MacBook Pro for repair in 2019 never paid for the service or retrieved it, or a hard drive on which its contents were stored. He was unable after repeated attempts to contact the client.<\/p>\n Before turning over the laptop to the FBI in December, Isaac made a copy of the hard drive and later gave it to former Mayor Rudy Giuliani\u2019s lawyer, Robert Costello.<\/p>\n Steve Bannon, former adviser to President Trump, told The Post about the existence of the hard drive in late September and Giuliani provided The Post with a copy of it.<\/p>\n In his suit, Isaac said he had no knowledge the Post was going to publish the contents of the laptop.<\/p>\n \u201cPlaintiff was unaware that the NY POST had information from the hard drive or that a story was going to be published,\u201d the suit read.<\/p>\n \u201cPlaintiff did not want his name released to the public nor did he give authorization to Giuliani, [Giuliani\u2019s attorney] Costello, or the NY POST to release his name.\u201d<\/p>\n Twitter founder Jack Dorsey was hauled before Congress in late October to explain their unprecedented censoring of the articles and Twitter\u2019s subsequent decision to lock the Post\u2019s account for two weeks \u2014 a decision Dorsey later admitted was a mistake.<\/p>\n The emails and text messages first reported by the Post detailed\u00a0some of Hunter Biden\u2019s business dealings in China and Ukraine and revealed how he sought to involve his father and profit off his high office.<\/p>\n Federal investigators are now reportedly looking into whether Hunter and his business associates violated various tax and money laundering laws.<\/p>\n In September, Republican\u00a0senators released a report<\/a>\u00a0on Hunter\u2019s business affairs that said he \u201cand his family were involved in a vast financial network that connected them to foreign nationals and foreign governments across the globe.\u201d<\/p>\n
