The platform claims the journal&#8217;s website is \u201cpotentially unsafe.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"article__text text \">\n<p>Twitter user Karl Denninger (@TickerGuy) posted a link to an observational\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ejmed.org\/index.php\/ejmed\/article\/view\/599\/337\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">stud<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ejmed.org\/index.php\/ejmed\/article\/view\/599\/337\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">y<\/a>\u00a0in the European Journal of Medical and Health Sciences that found healthcare workers in Dhaka, Bangladesh who were treated with ivermectin as pre-exposure prophylaxis (PreP) were markedly less likely to become infected with Covid-19. Just 6.9 percent of those given the drug tested positive for Covid-19, while a whopping 73.3 percent of those who did not became infected.<\/p>\n<div class=\"rtcode\">\n<div class=\"twitter-tweet twitter-tweet-rendered\"><iframe id=\"twitter-widget-0\" class=\"\" title=\"Twitter Tweet\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/embed\/index.html?creatorScreenName=RT_com&amp;dnt=false&amp;embedId=twitter-widget-0&amp;frame=false&amp;hideCard=false&amp;hideThread=false&amp;id=1344633474255302656&amp;lang=en&amp;origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.rt.com%2Fusa%2F511259-twitter-censors-ivermectin-journal-covid%2F&amp;siteScreenName=RT_com&amp;theme=light&amp;widgetsVersion=ed20a2b%3A1601588405575&amp;width=550px\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-tweet-id=\"1344633474255302656\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>No sooner had his tweet slamming the \u201c<em>GHOULS<\/em>\u201d in charge of the US response to the pandemic (and telling doubters to stick the study where the sun doesn\u2019t shine) gone live on Thursday morning, however, than Denninger discovered Twitter had blocked the link with a warning screen advising users \u201c<em>this site may be unsafe.<\/em>\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Users who attempted to access the peer-reviewed journal were confronted with an alert that the link was \u201c<em>identified by Twitter or [its] partners as being potentially spammy or unsafe<\/em>\u201d and could potentially \u201c<em>steal personal information or harm electronic devices.<\/em>\u201d This would be quite an accomplishment for a static text-only page with no links or scripts running.<\/p>\n<p>Twitter\u2019s fondness for blocking traffic to \u201c<em>wrongthink<\/em>\u201d sites with spurious warning pages is a well-established headache for the alternative media, but\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ejmed.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-stringify-link=\"http:\/\/ejmed.org\" data-sk=\"tooltip_parent\">ejmed.org<\/a>\u00a0is no ZeroHedge or BitChute. Indeed, it\u2019s not political at all, let alone pro- or anti-establishment. Nevertheless, the social media behemoth saw fit to block not just that one article, but the whole\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/ejmed.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-stringify-link=\"http:\/\/ejmed.org\" data-sk=\"tooltip_parent\">ejmed.org<\/a>\u00a0site.<\/p>\n<div class=\"rtcode\">\n<div class=\"twitter-tweet twitter-tweet-rendered\"><iframe id=\"twitter-widget-1\" class=\"\" title=\"Twitter Tweet\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/embed\/index.html?creatorScreenName=RT_com&amp;dnt=false&amp;embedId=twitter-widget-1&amp;frame=false&amp;hideCard=false&amp;hideThread=false&amp;id=1344642274353967105&amp;lang=en&amp;origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.rt.com%2Fusa%2F511259-twitter-censors-ivermectin-journal-covid%2F&amp;siteScreenName=RT_com&amp;theme=light&amp;widgetsVersion=ed20a2b%3A1601588405575&amp;width=550px\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-tweet-id=\"1344642274353967105\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Even in the face of such a significant difference between the experimental and control trial group, the authors were tentative in their conclusions, stating only that ivermectin \u201c<em>should be subjected to large-scale trials all over the world to ascertain its effectiveness as pre-exposure prophylaxis for Covid-19<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While the off-patent drug is best known as a deworming medicine, it also has an established reputation as an antiviral drug.\u00a0Over two dozen\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ivmmeta.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">trials<\/a>\u00a0have suggested it is effective in treating even late-stage Covid-19,\u00a0including one successful study by the same Bangladeshi researchers who published the ivermectin-as-PreP paper.<\/p>\n<p>Were such a drug to be approved by the Food and Drug Administration for treatment of Covid-19, however, it could jeopardize the newly-released vaccines\u2019 emergency use authorization, which requires there be no safe and approved treatments for a disease before a vaccine can be deployed on an emergency basis. Ivermectin is FDA-approved \u2013 like another controversial drug, hydroxychloroquine, it\u2019s been on the market for decades for use treating other conditions. However, the agency has thus far refused to consider approving ivermectin to treat coronavirus.<\/p>\n<p>While Twitter has not explained its decision to block the entire website of the European Journal of Medical and Health Sciences, the platform declared earlier this month that it would be removing all \u201c<em>misleading<\/em>\u201d tweets about vaccines. Any post that suggests vaccines intentionally cause harm, \u201c<em>control populations<\/em>,\u201d or have side effects is fair game, as is any tweet that suggests Covid-19 is not serious.
