The telephone conference call @GaSecofState secretly recorded was a \u2018confidential settlement discussion\u2019 of that litigation, which is still pending,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0David Shafer, Georgia Republican Party chairman, tweeted on Sunday, shortly after the Washington Post, the New York Times, CNN and other media published a recording of Trump\u2019s wide-ranging call with Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger and a host of other officials, as well as his campaign lawyers.<\/p>\n<div class=\"rtcode\">\n<div class=\"twitter-tweet twitter-tweet-rendered\"><iframe id=\"twitter-widget-0\" class=\"\" title=\"Twitter Tweet\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/embed\/index.html?creatorScreenName=RT_com&amp;dnt=false&amp;embedId=twitter-widget-0&amp;frame=false&amp;hideCard=false&amp;hideThread=false&amp;id=1345868002026205184&amp;lang=en&amp;origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.rt.com%2Fusa%2F511448-trump-georgia-lawsuit-call%2F&amp;siteScreenName=RT_com&amp;theme=light&amp;widgetsVersion=ed20a2b%3A1601588405575&amp;width=550px\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-tweet-id=\"1345868002026205184\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, conservative lawyer Cleta Mitchell, and Georgia-based attorney Kurt Hilbert were on Trump\u2019s end of the receiver, while Raffensperger was joined by his office\u2019s attorney Ryan Germany and Deputy Secretary of State Jordan Fuchs.<\/p>\n<div class=\"rtcode\">\n<div class=\"twitter-tweet twitter-tweet-rendered\"><iframe id=\"twitter-widget-1\" class=\"\" title=\"Twitter Tweet\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/embed\/index.html?creatorScreenName=RT_com&amp;dnt=false&amp;embedId=twitter-widget-1&amp;frame=false&amp;hideCard=false&amp;hideThread=false&amp;id=1345904139851722753&amp;lang=en&amp;origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.rt.com%2Fusa%2F511448-trump-georgia-lawsuit-call%2F&amp;siteScreenName=RT_com&amp;theme=light&amp;widgetsVersion=ed20a2b%3A1601588405575&amp;width=550px\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-tweet-id=\"1345904139851722753\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Shafer tweeted that the purportedly complete recording of the call, released by the Washington Post, was in effect\u00a0<em>\u201cheavily edited\u201d<\/em>\u00a0and failed to include the part where Meadows allegedly stated that it was\u00a0<em>\u201cfor the purpose of discussing the settlement on pending litigation.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><a class=\"read-more-big\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/usa\/511442-trump-pressures-georgia-secstate-leak\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"read-more-big__container\"><span class=\"read-more-big__content\"><span class=\"read-more-big__subtitle\">ALSO ON RT.COM<\/span><span class=\"read-more-big__title\">In call LEAKED to media, Trump \u2018pressures\u2019 Georgia sec of state to re-examine election results, \u2018FIND\u2019 votes to overturn Biden win<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a>The Washington Post, however, denied that they somehow tampered with the recording, insisting that they have published\u00a0<em>\u201cthe entirety of the call, from start to finish.\u201d\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThere is no mention of it being a confidential settlement meeting. None,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0WaPo\u2019s political reporter Amy Gardner tweeted.<\/p>\n<div class=\"rtcode\">\n<div class=\"twitter-tweet twitter-tweet-rendered\"><iframe id=\"twitter-widget-2\" class=\"\" title=\"Twitter Tweet\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/embed\/index.html?creatorScreenName=RT_com&amp;dnt=false&amp;embedId=twitter-widget-2&amp;frame=false&amp;hideCard=false&amp;hideThread=false&amp;id=1345893247776940038&amp;lang=en&amp;origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.rt.com%2Fusa%2F511448-trump-georgia-lawsuit-call%2F&amp;siteScreenName=RT_com&amp;theme=light&amp;widgetsVersion=ed20a2b%3A1601588405575&amp;width=550px\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-tweet-id=\"1345893247776940038\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The call lasted about one hour, and focused exclusively on the issue of election fraud, with Trump accusing Georgia electoral officials of not doing enough to uncover multiple alleged irregularities. The president has repeatedly referred to\u00a0<em>\u201cshredded ballots\u201d<\/em>\u00a0in Fulton County and elsewhere, and cited reports\u00a0<em>\u201cof dead people\u201d<\/em>\u00a0on voter rolls. He has also doubled down on his campaign claims that Dominion voting equipment was somehow involved in the plot to tip the vote in Biden\u2019s favor, alleging in the call that the company was\u00a0<em>\u201cmoving fast to get rid of their machinery.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0Germany, however, rejected the assumption, answering\u00a0<em>\u201cNo\u201d<\/em>\u00a0when asked if that was the case.<\/p>\n<p>Throughout the conversation, Trump insisted that he had won the state by a large margin, in contrast to the 11,779 votes by which he officially lost.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI\u2019m just curious, why wouldn\u2019t, why do you keep fighting this thing? It just doesn\u2019t make sense. We\u2019re way over the 17,779, right?\u201d<\/em>\u00a0Trump told Raffensperger, saying that he\u00a0<em>\u201cjust\u201d<\/em>\u00a0wants to\u00a0<em>\u201cfind 11,780 votes\u201d<\/em>\u00a0\u2013 as opposed to tens of thousands more he believes he received in Georgia.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"read-more-big\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/usa\/511445-paul-ryan-vote-certification\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span class=\"read-more-big__container\"><span class=\"read-more-big__content\"><span class=\"read-more-big__subtitle\">ALSO ON RT.COM<\/span><span class=\"read-more-big__title\">Ex-House speaker Paul Ryan takes heat from both sides after blasting GOP senators\u2019 effort to challenge Biden\u2019s victory<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/a>Closer to the end of the discussion, Trump appeared to lay the blame on Raffensperger for a potential loss in the Senate Georgia runoffs, saying that people would not turn out at the polls because of what he\u00a0<em>\u201cdid to the president.\u201d<\/em>\u00a0Trump then suggested Raffensperger takes into account his grievances and amends the\u00a0<em>\u201cfaulty election results.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWell, under law, you\u2019re not allowed to give faulty election results, OK? You\u2019re not allowed to do that. And that\u2019s what you [have] done. This is a faulty election result,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0Trump said, noting that Raffensperger would be\u00a0<em>\u201creally respected\u201d<\/em>\u00a0if\u00a0<em>\u201cthis thing could be straightened out before the election.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cAnd I think that it is really important that you meet tomorrow and work out on these numbers,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0he added.<\/p>\n<p>Since it was released, the call has sparked a flurry of accusations against Trump, with critics accusing him of arm-twisting Georgia\u2019s secretary of state into overturning the vote.
