Congress will determine who is president-elect based on the votes.<\/p>\n<p>President Donald Trump ran for a second term against Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.<\/p>\n<p>Objections must be in writing and have the support of at least one senator and one representative. An objection triggers a withdrawal from the joint session and a two-hour debate, followed by a vote. A majority vote in each chamber votes upholds an objection, which would nullify the contested electoral votes.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI\u2019m hoping that the American people get to hear just a small amount of evidence\u201d during the debates,\u00a0Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/rep-marjorie-taylor-greene-i-hope-americans-can-hear-evidence-of-fraud-during-joint-session_3645676.html\">told<\/a>\u00a0The Epoch Times on Tuesday.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>House Democrats are planning to use the debate time to present their \u201cconstitutional, historical, and thematic justification for respecting the will of the people,\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/pelosi-names-house-democratic-leaders-for-electoral-college-debate_3645636.html\">told<\/a>\u00a0colleagues in a Jan. 5 letter.<\/p>\n<p>A candidate must reach 270 electoral votes to win. If neither candidate does, a secondary system is triggered wherein each state\u2019s representatives combine in one vote to elect the next president. The Senate would do the same for vice president.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Pelosi and fellow Democrats say Biden has already won the election.
