of pedophiles and human traffickers. The movement behind it has played a massive role in organizing nationwide\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/facebook-stop-the-steal-vote-counting-protests-mewe-parler-trump-2020-11\" data-analytics-module=\"body_link\" data-analytics-post-depth=\"60\" data-uri=\"961a10a2d0f1b31a3c55a61f9c476188\">&#8220;Stop the Steal&#8221; protests<\/a>\u00a0in the two months since President-elect Joe Biden won the 2020 election.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;Q Shaman&#8221; is one of many figures in the world of QAnon whose actions inspire and influence the movement. QAnon originated with an anonymous figure called &#8220;Q&#8221; who writes cryptic messages on the fringe message board 8kun (previously known as 8chan). As Q has become increasingly hands-off, giving fewer and fewer messages to his devotees, QAnon leaders like Angeli have gained fame and power in the movement.<\/p>\n<div class=\"twitter-tweet twitter-tweet-rendered\"><iframe id=\"twitter-widget-1\" class=\"\" title=\"Twitter Tweet\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/embed\/index.html?dnt=false&amp;embedId=twitter-widget-1&amp;frame=false&amp;hideCard=false&amp;hideThread=false&amp;id=1346909795564060674&amp;lang=en&amp;origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.businessinsider.com%2Fq-shaman-qanon-influencer-capitol-siege-washington-dc-protest-riot-2021-1&amp;siteScreenName=businessinsider&amp;theme=light&amp;widgetsVersion=ed20a2b%3A1601588405575&amp;width=550px\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-tweet-id=\"1346909795564060674\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Later on Wednesday afternoon, Angeli grabbed a microphone outside the Capitol and told people to go home, according to a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/kevinroose\/status\/1346935433406476290\" data-analytics-module=\"body_link\" data-analytics-post-depth=\"80\" data-uri=\"4f659860ad83525ae902ad7db132c60a\">tweet<\/a>\u00a0from Kevin Roose, a technology columnist at The New York Times.<\/p>\n<p>As Trump seeks to undermine the election results, he has been getting much of his information on baseless voter-fraud allegations\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.insider.com\/trump-shares-voter-fraud-conspiracy-theories-of-qanon-star-ron-watkins-2020-12\" data-analytics-module=\"body_link\" data-analytics-post-depth=\"80\" data-uri=\"6100330ed92c7e755396cc8d2c3d4912\">directly from the QAnon movement<\/a>. The Dominion voter-fraud conspiracy theory, which baselessly alleges that Dominion Voting Systems interfered with the election, was popularized by Ron Watkins, a previous administrator of 8kun. Watkins&#8217; father, Jim Watkins, has been suspected by some of being &#8220;Q,&#8221; or at least being associated with the figure (or group).<\/p>\n<p>Wednesday&#8217;s riot included Trump supporters espousing QAnon, as well as members of other far-right groups like the Proud Boys. Many popular QAnon accounts were celebrating the Capitol siege on Wednesday, saying it was the first step in some kind of civil war.<\/p>\n<p>Others at the riots were seen wearing QAnon paraphernalia.
