Kelly Loeffler and David Perdue on January 4, one day before the GOP candidates lost their run-off races to Democrats.<\/p>\n<p>Greene publicly touting her alliance with Trump comes as Democrats\u00a0are pursuing options to move her off committees if House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy doesn\u2019t move forward with reprimanding the Georgia freshman Republican over controversial comments she\u2019s made.<\/p>\n<p>It also comes as Senate minoroty leader Mitch McConnell on Monday\u00a0denounced the QAnon congresswoman , calling her \u2018loony lies\u2019 a \u2018cancer for the Republican Party.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>He did specifically named the freshman lawmaker in a three-sentence statement to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/house\/536850-mcconnell-says-taylor-greene-a-cancer-to-gop-country\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noreferrer noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/house\/536850-mcconnell-says-taylor-greene-a-cancer-to-gop-country&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1612367109945000&amp;usg=AFQjCNG8HC6HFMBzoTpKv8yxOo-KUgcbXQ\">The Hill<\/a>, yet referenced several of the bizarre conspiracy theories the far-right Georgia congresswoman has pushed.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Somebody who\u2019s suggested that perhaps no airplane hit the Pentagon on 9\/11, that horrifying school shootings were pre-staged, and that the Clintons crashed JFK Jr.\u2019s airplane is not living in reality,\u2019 said McConnell.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018This has nothing to do with the challenges facing American families or the robust debates on substance that can strengthen our party.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>On Tuesday, CNN reported that Greene had liked and posted comments indicating support for executing prominent Democrats, including House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.<\/p>\n<p>House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer\u2019s ultimatum gives Republicans 72 hours to remove Greene from committees or Democrats will bring the issue to the floor.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018We\u2019re focused on making sure that we can render powerless the poisonous nature of this member,\u2019 Florida Democratic Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz told reporters Monday. \u2018The House has to be able to take actions to police its own membership,\u2019<\/p>\n<p>It is not clear the exact path Democrats would take to remove Greene, but party leaders have several options \u2013 and Wasserman Schultz on Monday introduced a measure for removal.<\/p>\n<p>During a call on Sunday, Democratic leadership also discussed a separate motion that would go through the House Rules Committee.<\/p>\n<p>McCarthy and Greene are scheduled to meet for a face-to-face sit-down later this week.<\/p>\n<p>Allies claim he will decide how to move forward with the situation depending on how that conversation goes.<\/p>\n<p>The Republican leader had a similar meeting with then-Rep. Greene is \u2018trying to distance herself\u2019 from QAnon conspiracies she pushed in the past<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-17730 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/jamesfetzer.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Rob-Portman-and-Asa-Hutchinson--300x171.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 711px) 100vw, 711px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/jamesfetzer.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Rob-Portman-and-Asa-Hutchinson--300x171.jpg 300w, https:\/\/jamesfetzer.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Rob-Portman-and-Asa-Hutchinson--768x437.jpg 768w, https:\/\/jamesfetzer.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Rob-Portman-and-Asa-Hutchinson--1024x583.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/jamesfetzer.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Rob-Portman-and-Asa-Hutchinson--400x228.jpg 400w\" alt=\"\" width=\"711\" height=\"406\" \/><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<p>Republican Senator Rob Portman of Ohio (left) said Sunday that his colleagues should \u2018stand up\u2019 against Greene, while he and Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson (right) said they trust and respect voters in Georgia\u2019s 14th congressional district to election someone to Congress that represents them<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u2018I trust the voters,\u2019 she told The New York Times in an interview Friday. \u2018I have a lot of faith in the voters to pick who\u2019s best to represent them.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>McDaniel, the cousin of Senator Mitt Romney, said the RNC would step in if \u2018there\u2019s more egregious things,\u2019 like \u2018if there\u2019s a David Duke situation.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>She also said she trusts McCarthy to \u2018handle\u2019 Greene.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018She has said they\u2019re not from her,\u2019 McDaniel said of the QAnon conspiracies Greene subscribes to, like that the government is run by a left-leaning, devil-worshiping cabal of pedophiles and sex traffickers.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018There does need to be an investigation, and I trust that Kevin McCarthy will handle that within his own caucus,\u2019 she added.<\/p>\n<p>People familiar with McCarthy\u2019s thinking told the Times that he felt crippled by the circumstances surrounding Greene and has expressed that the only way to deal with her is to tolerate her.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018If you have a family dispute, don\u2019t go on \u2018\u201dJerry Springer,\u201d\u2018 McDaniel also recommended. \u2018Do it behind closed doors.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018It\u2019s my role to call them and explain that if we don\u2019t keep our party united and focused on 2022, we will lose. If we are attacking fellow Republicans and cancel culture within our own party, it is not helpful to winning majorities,\u2019 she told The Times.<\/p>\n<p>McDaniel, however, did condemn the QAnon conspiracies pushed by Greene by calling the comments \u2018atrocious.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>She said \u2018they need to be condemned,\u2019 adding: \u2018They are inaccurate. They are very, very dangerous.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>McDaniel said the RNC would remain neutral in the Republican primaries, including in Greene\u2019s reelection in 2022 \u2013 as long as no extreme behavior emerges.<\/p>\n<p>Republicans are split over what to do with Greene \u2013 who has quickly become arguably the most controversial figure within the party, possibly tied with Trump.<\/p>\n<p>GOP Sen. Rob Portman demanded his colleagues issue a \u2018strong response\u2019 to Greene.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I think Republican leaders ought to stand up and say it is totally unacceptable what she has said,\u2019 the Ohio senator told CNN on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I saw a couple videos over the weekend and one had to do with violence as I see it. There is no place for violence in our political dialogue,\u2019 Portman continued. \u2018By the way there is no place for violence in our country. I mean, this is something we got to get away from. So yeah. I think people ought to speak out clearly.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Portman, however, along with Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson, also a Republican, said Sunday that voters in Georgia\u2019s 14th district should be respected and trusted to elect someone to Congress who represents their values.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The people of her district elected her and that should mean a lot,\u2019 Hutchinson told ABC Sunday, adding that Greene\u2019s constituents would decide if she should serve another term or not.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018She\u2019s going to run for reelection and she\u2019ll be accountable for what she said and her actions.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Given her history is she fit to serve?\u2019 ABC host Martha Raddatz pushed Hutchinson.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I\u2019m not going to answer that question as to whether she\u2019s fit to serve because she believes in something that everybody else does not accept,\u2019 the Arkansas governor dodged.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018I don\u2019t think we ought to punish people from a disciplinary standpoint \u2013 a Party standpoint \u2013 because they believe something a little bit different.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Before being elected to Congress, Greene expressed some extreme and dangerous views, like supporting the calls for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, among other prominent Democrats, to be executed.<\/p>\n<p>Many lifelong Republicans feel there is no place for this more radical version of Republicanism in the modern-day Party.<\/p>\n<p>Greene appears to be creating a place for herself in the party, however, as she took to Twitter Saturday to defend McCarthy against the conservative anti-Trump political action committee, The Lincoln Project.<\/p>\n<p>The PAC called McCarthy a traitor after pictures emerged last week of him meeting with Trump while in Southern Florida for donor meetings.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The Lincoln Project are the REAL traitors! You aren\u2019t Republicans.
