Despite all the blabbering about \u201cscience\u201d by politicians who know nothing at all whatsoever about science and the scientific method, the U.S. government\u2019s behavior regarding \u201cCOVID-19[84]\u201d has been quintessentially unscientific<\/em><\/strong>.\u00a0 No serious student of the scientific method believes that \u201ctruth\u201d comes from the pronouncements of a single government bureaucrat, and that those who question the bureaucratic prounouncements should be smeared, slandered, fired from their jobs, and their careers destroyed.\u00a0 But that of course is exactly what has happened.\u00a0 We are all supposed to believe that a weasely little man who has never actually practiced medicine himself, who has been a tenured government bureaucrat for nearly six decades, is the sole source of all truth about \u201cpublic health.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/em>Kind of like \u201cThe Sayer of the Law\u201d in \u201cThe Island of Dr. Moreau.\u201d\u00a0 Or God in the Bible.<\/em>\u00a0Or the Witch Doctor of an ancient African tribe.\u00a0 I speak of course of Tony \u201cHeil Hitler\u201d Fauci.<\/p>\n F.A. Hayek explained this particular aspect of totalitarianism<\/em>\u00a0in a chapter of The Road to Serfdom<\/em> entitled \u201cThe End of Truth.\u201d\u00a0 In a totalitarian society, wrote Hayek, truth is not determined by the scientific method, education, research, discussion, debate, and the intellectual search<\/em> for truth in general.\u00a0 Instead, \u201ctruth\u201d stems from the words and prounouncements of politicians and bureaucrats, and you had better accept their words \u2014 or else.\u00a0 They will use the coercive powers of the state to punish you if you dare to dissent.<\/p>\n Sound familiar?<\/p>\n
