Wisconsin USA – 28\/01\/2021: Dr Sara Beltr\u00e1n Ponce was enthusiastic about receiving the Covid-19 vaccine<\/span> \u201cto protect myself, my baby, my family, my patients, and my community!\u201d <\/span><\/i>Sadly, one week later on February 4 Ponce announced she had suffered a <\/span>miscarriage<\/span>. While the World Health Organisation and the UK have not recommended pregnant women take the vaccine, the CDC in the US has actively encouraged vaccination claiming they <\/span>\u201care unlikely to pose a risk.\u201d <\/span><\/i>Her post continued, stating that as a medical professional she felt she should lead by example.<\/span> \u201cAs a physician, I feel a responsibility to protect the cancer patients that I see on a daily basis, especially those who are immunocompromised from their therapies. But also as a human, we all have a responsibility to do what is best for our communities and for each other,\u201d <\/span><\/i>she added, along with a photo of her being \u2018vaccinated\u2019 while holding up ultrasound images.<\/span> \u201cI\u2019ve always been open about my motherhood journey in medicine, and it\u2019s with a heavy heart that I tell my #MedTwitter family that I\u2019ve suffered a miscarriage at 14 \u00bd weeks,\u201d she tweeted.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n
