Gay campground announces they will ban trans men so they can manage the \u2018atmosphere\u2019<\/strong><\/h1>\n

A campground and RV park in Michigan is marketing itself to\u00a0gay<\/a>\u00a0men as an institution banning\u00a0trans<\/a>\u00a0men from the grounds.<\/p>\n

Camp Boomerang RV Park and Campground has yet to open its site in Orleans,\u00a0Michigan<\/a>, but its co-owner Bryan Quinn announced a set of campground rules on its Facebook page. Quinn wrote: \u201cCamp Boomerang is a private, membership-only RV park\/campground that allows only \u2018guys\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cA \u2018guy\u2019, in terms of this discussion, is defined as a person with a penis, [who] presents himself as male and has a state-issued ID that says \u2018male\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe understand this statement, unfortunately, may not make everyone happy, but feel it needs to be clarified.\u201d<\/p>\n

Quinn said it is \u201cour hope\u201d that visitors to Camp Boomerang enjoy a \u201ccomfortable, safe, non-confrontational environment going forward\u201d. He added that being a membership-only campground \u201callows us the ability to build a like-minded atmosphere\u201d. He explained: \u201cWe don\u2019t mean for this to come off as a \u2018like it or leave it\u2019 attitude, but we feel it\u2019s necessary for everyone to know exactly what our vision is for Camp Boomerang.\u201d<\/p>\n

Unfortunately for Quinn, that\u2019s exactly how it came off.<\/h2>\n

The backlash to the statement was swift online. One person posted the campground\u2019s anti-trans policy on Twitter. He called on \u201cgays in the Michigan and Midwest area\u201d to not visit Camp Boomerang.<\/p>\n
