Rep.\u00a0Matt Gaetz<\/a>, R-Fla., called on Florida Gov.\u00a0Ron DeSantis<\/a>\u00a0to remove Pasco County Sheriff\u00a0Chris Nocco over an intelligence program that his department uses to predict\u00a0crime<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Four Florida residents sued the sheriff’s office this week, claiming that they were harassed or arrested by deputies who were using the program.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Pasco County Sheriff’s Office uses the intelligence program to analyze\u00a0arrest histories and other data to predict which residents are most likely to commit crimes in the future, according to\u00a0an investigation by the\u00a0Tampa Bay Times<\/a>.<\/p>\n

But Gaetz and others argue that the program oversteps the bounds of appropriate law enforcement.<\/p>\n
