{"id":59058,"date":"2021-04-04T07:44:01","date_gmt":"2021-04-04T11:44:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stateofthenation.co\/?p=59058"},"modified":"2021-04-04T07:44:01","modified_gmt":"2021-04-04T11:44:01","slug":"structural-collapse-could-occur-at-any-time","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateofthenation.co\/?p=59058","title":{"rendered":"&#8220;Structural Collapse Could Occur At Any Time&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>&#8220;Structural Collapse Could Occur At Any Time&#8221;: Florida County Evacuates Residents Near Imminent Radioactive Wastewater Spill<\/h1>\n<p><!--more-->ZeroHedge.com<\/p>\n<p>Florida residents located within a one of a phosphate processing plant in Manatee County\u00a0<strong>were evacuated this weekend<\/strong>\u00a0as officials warned that a pond containing\u00a0<strong>radioactive wastewater<\/strong>\u00a0could collapse &#8220;at any time,&#8221; according to<em>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/florida-state-of-emergency-wastewater-phosphate-processing-plant-could-collapse\/?ftag=CNM-00-10aab7e&amp;linkId=115289236\">CBS News<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<strong>A portion of the containment wall at the leak site shifted laterally<\/strong>,&#8221; said Manatee Director of Public Safety Jake Saur, after the Piney Point processing plant developed a &#8220;significant leak&#8221; according to county officials cited by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wtsp.com\/article\/news\/local\/manateecounty\/piney-point-reservoir-breach-manatee-county\/67-e871cce8-7276-45ce-b65d-7078beedeaff\"><em>WTSP-TV<\/em><\/a>. Saur said that a &#8220;<strong>structural collapse could occur at any time<\/strong>.&#8221; Governor Ron DeSantis\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GovRonDeSantis\/status\/1378402412273229831?s=20\">declared<\/a>\u00a0a\u00a0<strong>state of emergency for the area<\/strong>\u00a0on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/2021-04-03.png?itok=UHMpCBnv\" data-image-external-href=\"\" data-image-href=\"\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/2021-04-03.png?itok=UHMpCBnv\" data-link-option=\"0\"><picture><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/zh-prod-1cc738ca-7d3b-4a72-b792-20bd8d8fa069.storage.googleapis.com\/s3fs-public\/styles\/inline_image_mobile\/public\/inline-images\/2021-04-03.png?itok=UHMpCBnv\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"493\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"d5c091fa-540c-4bff-8918-83b802c44cfb\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" \/><\/picture><\/a><\/p>\n<p>On Friday, the Manatee County Public Safety Department sent out emergency evacuation notices to those living within a half-mile of the facility, only to expand the orders to those within\u00a0<strong>one mile<\/strong>\u00a0north, and half-mile south of the reservoir&#8217;s stacks of\u00a0<strong>phosphogypsum\u00a0<\/strong>&#8211;\u00a0<strong>a radioactive fertilizer waste product<\/strong>\u00a0left over when phosphate ore is processed into a fertilizer component.<\/p>\n<p>Nearby stretches of highway were also closed to traffic according to the report.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Mandatory evacuations were extended an additional half mile west and one mile southwest of the site on Saturday evening. Manatee County Public Safety Department said that 316 households are within the full evacuation area. &#8211;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/florida-state-of-emergency-wastewater-phosphate-processing-plant-could-collapse\/?ftag=CNM-00-10aab7e&amp;linkId=115289236\">CBS News<\/a><\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"twitter-tweet twitter-tweet-rendered\"><iframe id=\"twitter-widget-0\" class=\"\" title=\"Twitter Tweet\" src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/embed\/Tweet.html?dnt=false&amp;embedId=twitter-widget-0&amp;frame=false&amp;hideCard=false&amp;hideThread=false&amp;id=1378467513902727168&amp;lang=en&amp;origin=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.zerohedge.com%2Fmedical%2Fstructural-collapse-could-occur-any-time-florida-county-evacuates-residents-near-imminent&amp;siteScreenName=zerohedge&amp;theme=light&amp;widgetsVersion=e1ffbdb%3A1614796141937&amp;width=550px\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-tweet-id=\"1378467513902727168\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>&#8220;<strong>In addition to high concentrations of radioactive materials, phosphogypsum and processed wastewater can also contain carcinogens and heavy toxic metals,<\/strong>&#8221; said the Center for Biological Diversity in a Saturday statement. &#8220;For every ton of phosphoric acid produced, the fertilizer industry creates 5 tons of radioactive phosphogypsum waste, which is stored in mountainous stacks hundreds of acres wide and hundreds of feet tall.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>According to Manatee County Commissioner Vanessa Baugh, the &#8220;public must heed that notice to avoid harm.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Officials are on site conducting a controlled release of water, roughly\u00a0<strong>22,000 gallons a minute.\u00a0<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The water that is currently being pumped out by officials in order to avoid a full collapse\u00a0<strong>is a mix of sea water from a local dredge project, storm water and rain runoff<\/strong>.
