“Shut Your Mouth” – Maxine Waters Blasts Jim Jordan During Angry Exchange With Fauci<\/h1>\n

During a Thursday congressional hearing,\u00a0SaraACarter.com’s Douglass Braff reports that\u00a0<\/em><\/a>\u00a0a shouting match erupted between GOP Rep.\u00a0Jim Jordan<\/a>\u00a0(Ohio) and Dr.\u00a0Anthony Fauci<\/a>\u00a0over COVID-19 restrictions when Jordan pressed Fauci on when Americans can expect things to return to normal, bringing up civil liberties.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen is the time?\u201d\u00a0<\/strong><\/em>Jordan asked during House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus hearing titled \u201cReaching the Light at the End of the Tunnel: Ending COVID-19\u201d.\u00a0\u201cWhen do Americans get their freedom back? We had 15 days to slow the spread, turned into a year of lost liberties.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cWhen we get the level of infection in this country low enough that it is not a really high threat,\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>Fauci replied.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cWhat is low enough? Give me a number [\u2026] what metrics, what measures, what has to happen before Americans get their freedoms?\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>the Ohio Republican asked.<\/p>\n

Fauci replied that his message was to make sure as many Americans as possible\u00a0get vaccinated\u00a0quickly \u201cto get the level of infection in this country low that it is no longer a threat.\u201d<\/p>\n

Unsatisfied, Jordan continued to press him on this until Fauci took issue with the congressman\u2019s framing of the issue as one of civil liberties.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re indicating liberty and freedom. I look at it as a public health measure to prevent people from dying and going to hospital,\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>Fauci said, adding that life will return to normal when people get vaccinated.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

\u201cYou don\u2019t think Americans\u2019 liberties\u00a0have been threatened the last year, Dr. Fauci?\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>Jordan asked, raising his voice.\u00a0\u201cThey\u2019ve been assaulted!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n
