You Bet!<\/strong><\/u><\/h3>\n<blockquote><p>At London Heathrow Airport, the additional checks by border control have led to lines of more than six hours for arriving passengers. That is with just 541,000 passengers passing through the airport in March, down 91.7% from the comparable period in 2019.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The EU wants airlines to enforce restrictions that it sets up, but that makes the airlines responsible for detecting easily faked documents.<\/p>\n<p>The six hour wait time with traffic down 91.7% is a perfect of government sponsored madness that happens more in Europe than the US although we are not totally immune to such nonsense either.<\/p>\n<h3><u><strong>Negative Tests Required in the US<\/strong><\/u><\/h3>\n<p>On January 24, I noted new\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mishtalk.com\/economics\/huge-covid-restrictions-coming-up-on-international-air-travel\">CDC Guidelines Require Proof of Negative Test<\/a>\u00a0on inbound international flights to the US.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s unclear how well the US is enforcing that requirement.<\/p>\n<h3><u><strong>Where Can You Go?<\/strong><\/u><\/h3>\n<p>Hooray! You are vaccinated and ready to travel. But where can you go?<\/p>\n<p>You may be vaccinated but the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mishtalk.com\/economics\/you-may-be-vaccinated-but-the-world-still-isnt-ready-for-us-travelers\">World Still Isn&#8217;t Ready For US Travelers<\/a><\/p>\n<h3><u><strong>US Vax Pass\u00a0<\/strong><\/u><\/h3>\n<p>No doubt the &#8220;solution&#8221; will be government-mandated heath passports in Europe.<\/p>\n<h3><u><strong>What About the US and Canada?<\/strong><\/u><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Chicago &#8211; Yes<\/strong>: Chicago\u2019s public health commissioner, said the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.illinoispolicy.org\/illinois-public-health-officials-considering-vaccine-passport\/\">Vax Pass<\/a>\u201d will be\u00a0<em>required<\/em>\u00a0to attend concerts and other summer events starting in May.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Illinois &#8211; Up to Local Officials<\/strong>: The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/chicago.suntimes.com\/coronavirus\/2021\/4\/30\/22412805\/illinois-vaccine-passport-coronavirus-pritzker-not-required\">Sun Times<\/a>\u00a0says Gov. J.B. Pritzker is taking a pass on the \u201cVax Pass.\u201d Instead of a passport, the governor said residents across the state will be provided with something more akin to a doctor\u2019s note \u2014 and only if they ask for it.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Missouri &#8211; Will Bar<\/strong>: The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.columbiamissourian.com\/news\/missouri-senate-renews-push-to-bar-vaccine-passports-and-limit-local-health-orders\/article_b3045bc0-aaa3-11eb-818c-273aa30de114.html\">Missourian<\/a>\u00a0reports Missouri Senate renews push to\u00a0<em>bar vaccine passports<\/em>\u00a0and limit local health orders.<\/li>\n<li><strong>US &#8211; Yes<\/strong>: On March 28, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/health\/2021\/03\/28\/vaccine-passports-for-work\/\">Washington Post<\/a>\u00a0reported &#8220;Vaccine Passports are on the Way. The Biden administration and private companies are working to develop a standard way of handling credentials &#8220;<\/li>\n<li><strong>US &#8211; No<\/strong>: On April 6, the BBC reported<a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/world-us-canada-56657194\">\u00a0US Rules Out Federal Vaccine Passports<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Canada &#8211; Yes<\/strong>:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/suzannerowankelleher\/2021\/05\/01\/canada-will-require-a-vaccine-passport-for-entry\/?sh=20a977a81a71\">Forbes<\/a>\u00a0reports Canada Will Require Using A Vaccine Passport For Entry.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><u><strong>40 States Will Ban Covid-19 Passports<\/strong><\/u><\/h3>\n<p>Who&#8217;s in charge? That&#8217;s the key question as\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc27.com\/news\/health\/coronavirus\/coronavirus-pennsylvania\/pa-among-40-states-creating-legislation-to-ban-vaccine-passport-requirements\/\">40 States Creating Legislation to Ban Vaccine Passport Requirements<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>At state Capitols across the country, lawmakers are advancing legislation to ban COVID-19 vaccine passport requirements for businesses and schools.<\/p>\n<p>The vaccination passports currently exist in one state \u2014 a limited government partnership in New York with a private company \u2014 but that hasn\u2019t stopped GOP lawmakers in a handful of states, including Pennsylvania, from rushing out legislative proposals to ban their use.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGovernment should not require any Texan to have proof of vaccination,\u201d said Texas Republican Gov. Greg Abbott.<\/p>\n<p>While New York rolled out the \u201cExcelsior Pass,\u201d a digital vaccine passport, lawmakers in Indiana worked on a bill that includes a vaccine passport ban. It passed by a wide margin, just as many Hoosier state health departments saw an uptick in no-shows for COVID-19 shots.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3><u><strong>Confusing Mess<\/strong><\/u><\/h3>\n<p>It&#8217;s not at all clear what the procedure will be for international flights into the US. And if you wish to travel to Europe, expect long lines on top of needing a Vax Pass.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The EU and US are messes of a different kind.
