The FBI and Capitol Hill police have launched a probe after a suspicious envelope containing white powder and an apparent death threat was sent to the home of Republican Senator Rand Paul by an unknown sender.<\/p>\n

The letter, which was sent to the lawmaker\u2019s home in Kentucky on Monday, is now being examined for dangerous substances, an adviser to Paul told Politico, while the senator himself confirmed that he received the package in a tweet later in the evening.<\/p>\n

\u201cI take these threats immensely seriously. As a repeated target of violence, it is reprehensible that Twitter allows C-list celebrities to encourage violence against me and my family,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0he said.<\/p>\n
