One day after getting the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID vaccine,\u00a0Everest Romney<\/a>\u00a0became sick. Five days after being vaccinated, the 17-year-old was\u00a0hospitalized<\/a>\u00a0when doctors discovered two blood clots in his brain.<\/p>\nEverest\u2019s mother, Cherie Romney, told\u00a0Children\u2019s Health Defense<\/a>\u00a0Chairman Robert F. Within 24 hours of getting the vaccine, Everest began experiencing an \u201cexorbitant amount\u201d of pain and swelling in his neck that originated on the same side he received the vaccine. Cherie took her son to the pediatrician, who diagnosed the teen with a pulled muscle and placed him in a neck brace.<\/p>\n
The doctor was \u201cpretty dismissive,\u201d said Cherie. \u201cWe were sent home.\u201d<\/p>\n
But within 24 hours of the doctor\u2019s visit, Everest got \u201cone of the worst migraines he\u2019s ever had.\u201d It lasted nonstop for several days before Cherie took her son to the emergency room.<\/p>\n
Everest, who has since been released and is in stable condition, was diagnosed with having two cases of cerebral venous sinus thrombosis, a rare type of\u00a0blood clot<\/a>\u00a0that prevents blood from draining out of the brain.<\/p>\nCherie\u2019s husband, who received the\u00a0Moderna\u00a0<\/a>vaccine, had a similar severe\u00a0adverse reaction<\/a>. He was hospitalized with a\u00a0pulmonary infarction<\/a>\u00a0and lost about a fourth of his lung, permanently, said Cherie. An x-ray revealed he had over 100 blood clots in his lungs, she said. He has also since been released and is in stable condition.<\/p>\nCherie told Kennedy she is not\u00a0anti-vaccine<\/a>, However, she encourages others to weigh the rewards against the\u00a0potential risks<\/a>\u00a0when deciding whether or not to get the COVID vaccine.<\/p>\nCherie said:<\/p>\n
