{"id":67432,"date":"2021-05-31T11:56:43","date_gmt":"2021-05-31T15:56:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stateofthenation.co\/?p=67432"},"modified":"2021-05-31T11:57:26","modified_gmt":"2021-05-31T15:57:26","slug":"founder-of-black-lives-matter-chapter-quits-after-learning-the-ugly-truth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateofthenation.co\/?p=67432","title":{"rendered":"Founder Of Black Lives Matter Chapter Quits After Learning the &#8220;Ugly Truth&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><!--more-->By Jack Phillips<br \/>\nThe Epoch Time<\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-black-lives-matter\">Black Lives Matter<\/a>\u00a0chapter founder in Minnesota has resigned, claiming that the organization isn\u2019t concerned about helping black communities or helping improve the education quality in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/t-minneapolis\">Minneapolis<\/a>, according to a video published last week.<\/p>\n<p>Rashard Turner, the founder of a Black Lives Matter chapter in neighboring St. Paul, said he started the branch in 2015 but became disillusioned roughly a year after becoming \u201can insider\u201d within the left-wing organization, according to a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=wncYj2xfV6A\">video<\/a>\u00a0released by TakeCharge\u2014a group that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/takechargemn.com\/#leadership\">rejects various provisions<\/a>\u00a0promoted by Black Lives Matter, including\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/critical-race-theory-is-the-new-racism-says-texas-public-policy-foundation-scholar_3834668.html\">critical race theory<\/a>-linked claims that the United States is inherently racist.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter a year on the inside, I learned they had little concern for rebuilding black families, and they cared even less about improving the quality of education for students in Minneapolis,\u201d Turner\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/founder-of-black-lives-matter-in-st-paul-i-resigned-after-i-learned-the-ugly-truth-as-insider\">said<\/a>\u00a0in the video.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat was made clear when they publicly denounced charter schools alongside the teachers union. I was an insider in Black Lives Matter. And I learned the ugly truth. The moratorium on charter schools does not support rebuilding the black family. But it does create barriers to a better education for black children. I resigned from Black Lives Matter after a year and a half. But I didn\u2019t quit working to improve black lives and access to a great education.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/wncYj2xfV6A\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Representatives for Black Lives Matter didn\u2019t respond to a request for comment by press time.<\/p>\n<p>Approximately a year after George Floyd\u2019s death in Minneapolis, support for the group has plummeted in the United States, according to a recent\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/morningconsult.com\/2021\/05\/25\/george-floyd-race-relations-policing\/\">poll<\/a>\u00a0from Morning Consult. Only 48 percent hold favorable views about the organization, down from 61 percent last May.<\/p>\n<p>A USA Today\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2021\/03\/05\/americans-trust-black-lives-matter-declines-usa-today-ipsos-poll\/6903470002\/\">survey<\/a>\u00a0found that 36 percent of Americans now would describe Floyd\u2019s death as a murder, down from 60 percent last summer.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2021\/03\/07\/usa-today-ipsos-poll-just-18-support-defund-police-movement\/4599232001\/\">A poll in May<\/a>\u00a0conducted by the newspaper revealed that the Black Lives Matter call to \u201cdefund the police\u201d has even less support, with only 18 percent of respondents supporting it.<\/p>\n<p>It comes amid recent controversies surrounding Patrisse Cullors, a co-founder of the organization who resigned after a series of reports about her\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/blm-co-founder-purchases-1-4-million-home-in-a-0-4-percent-black-population-community-larry-elder_3786037.html\">real estate portfolio<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/blms-marxist-co-founder-raked-in-20000-a-month-as-chairwoman-of-jail-reform-group_3777404.html\">finances<\/a>.
