FDA Now Considering EUA for Young Children&#8217;s Covid Vaccinations!"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>WATCH: FDA Advisory Committee Meeting to Consider Expanding Emergency Use of COVID Vaccines in Younger Children<\/h1>\n<h3><em>The FDA advisory committee will meet June 10 from 8:30 a.m to 3:40 p.m. ET to decide whether to grant Emergency Use Authorization for COVID vaccines for younger children.<\/em><\/h3>\n<p>By Children&#8217;s Health Defense Team<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Food and Drug Administration\u2019s (FDA)\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/advisory-committees\/advisory-committee-calendar\/vaccines-and-related-biological-products-advisory-committee-june-10-2021-meeting-announcement\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">advisory committee<\/a>\u00a0will meet June 10 to determine whether to grant\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/emergency-preparedness-and-response\/mcm-legal-regulatory-and-policy-framework\/emergency-use-authorization\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Emergency Use Authorization<\/a>\u00a0for COVID vaccines for younger children.<\/p>\n<p>You can watch the FDA advisory committee meeting here:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" id=\"widget2\" title=\"YouTube video player\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/70Xhn3K9SlQ?enablejsapi=1&amp;origin=https:%2F%2Fchildrenshealthdefense.org\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Last month, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/defender\/fda-authorize-pfizer-vaccine-for-adolescents-experts-question\/\">FDA expanded<\/a>\u00a0Pfizer\u2019s Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) to include 12- to 15-year-olds, who are now receiving the vaccine.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are at a crossroads,\u201d said Mary Holland, Children\u2019s Health Defense president and general counsel. \u201cGovernments around the world are seizing authority away from parents to make life-and-death medical decisions for children. These laws and policies are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/defender\/doctors-tell-drug-regulators-vaccinating-kids-covid-irresponsible-unethical-unnecessary\/\">reckless, unethical<\/a>\u00a0and illegal. Parents, not government, must make medical decisions for their children.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Holland said the issue is more urgent than ever, as mainstream media\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox13memphis.com\/news\/local\/more-children-should-get-vaccinated-reach-herd-immunity-shelby-county-health-officials-say\/DK5MDC3UMJBFZDDBWQHGTILFCY\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">promotes<\/a>\u00a0the vaccines for 5-year-olds, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/komonews.com\/news\/local\/seattle-hospital-seeks-kids-as-young-as-6-months-for-covid-vaccine-trials\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">infants<\/a>\u00a0as young as 6 months are participating in clinical trials.<\/p>\n<p>Pfizer and Moderna this week predicted\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/defender\/pfizer-moderna-kids-5-years-covid-vaccines-september\/\">children as young as 5<\/a>\u00a0could be eligible for COVID vaccines by early September, as both companies complete trials.<\/p>\n<p>Adding to the urgency is news that many key cities \u2014 including\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/vax.phila.gov\/index.php\/notices\/adolescents-12-may-consent-to-receive-pfizer-vaccine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Philadelphia<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sfdph.org\/dph\/alerts\/files\/Order-C19-19-Vaccination-Minors.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">San Francisco<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/code.dccouncil.us\/dc\/council\/laws\/23-193.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">District of Columbia<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/kingcounty.gov\/depts\/health\/covid-19\/vaccine\/youth.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Seattle<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 are now asserting the extraordinary, unprecedented authority to vaccinate children as young as 11 without parental consent or even parental knowledge.<\/p>\n<p>The FDA has received three different petitions \u2014\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/defender\/sign-petition-chd-fda-take-covid-vaccines-off-market\/?utm_source=banner\">Children\u2019s Health Defense<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.regulations.gov\/comment\/FDA-2021-N-0458-0014\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Informed Consent Action Network<\/a>\u00a0and a group of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/defender\/petition-fda-get-science-right-before-approving-covid-vaccines\/\">27 prominent health experts and scientists<\/a>\u00a0\u2014 asking the agency to restrict COVID vaccines for children, or to suspend all use of the vaccines until further safety studies have been completed.<\/p>\n<p>Some of the petition authors will likely speak at the meeting tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>In an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.bmj.com\/bmj\/2021\/06\/08\/why-we-petitioned-the-fda-to-refrain-from-fully-approving-any-covid-19-vaccine-this-year\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">op-ed<\/a>\u00a0published Tuesday in The BMJ, four of the authors of the petition from 27 experts, writing on behalf of the group, said:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe message of our petition is \u2018slow down and get the science right \u2014 there is no legitimate reason to hurry to grant a license to a coronavirus vaccine.\u2019 We believe the existing evidence base \u2014 both pre- and post-authorization \u2014 is simply not mature enough at this point to adequately judge whether clinical benefits outweigh the risks in all populations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>___<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/defender\/fda-advisory-committee-expanding-emergency-use-covid-vaccines-children\/?utm_source=salsa&amp;eType=EmailBlastContent&amp;eId=53756fca-17af-405b-a8ad-8a6131626d95\">https:\/\/childrenshealthdefense.org\/defender\/fda-advisory-committee-expanding-emergency-use-covid-vaccines-children\/?utm_source=salsa&amp;eType=EmailBlastContent&amp;eId=53756fca-17af-405b-a8ad-8a6131626d95<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>WATCH: FDA Advisory Committee Meeting to Consider Expanding Emergency Use of COVID Vaccines in Younger Children The FDA advisory committee will meet June 10 from 8:30 a.m to 3:40 p.m. ET to decide whether to grant Emergency Use Authorization for &hellip;
