On July 1, in celebration of Canada Day, Alberta will become the first jurisdiction in the country to drop all pandemic restrictions.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cDon\u2019t live in fear,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0Alberta Premier Jason Kenney\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thestar.com\/news\/canada\/2021\/06\/15\/on-canada-day-alberta-will-become-the-first-province-to-drop-all-major-covid-restrictions.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a>\u00a0on Friday.\u00a0<em>\u201cWe\u2019re going to have a celebration on Canada Day about our new openness, and encourage people to get out there and support those small businesses that have been so hard hit in the past 16 months, and do so with confidence.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In addition to federal travel and quarantine mandates, Canadian provinces have imposed their own patchwork of restrictions. On a tour of anti-lockdown rallies last week in Manitoba, People\u2019s Party of Canada leader Maxime Bernier was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbc.ca\/news\/canada\/manitoba\/maxime-bernier-arrest-leaves-manitoba-montreal-1.6063774\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">arrested<\/a>\u00a0for breaching local pandemic rules.
