Johnson Covid-19 vaccines, citing \u201cpossible harmful effects\u201d which are too much of a concern compared to the benefits.<\/p>\n<p>The Danish Health Authority declared in a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sst.dk\/da\/Nyheder\/2021\/SST-kan-fortsat-ikke-generelt-anbefale-vaccination-med-COVID-19-Vaccine-Janssen-og-Vaxzevria\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">statement<\/a>\u00a0that the\u00a0<em>\u201cbalance between possible benefit and possible harmful effects is still not favorable\u201d<\/em>\u00a0with the two vaccines,\u00a0<em>\u201ceven when we include assumptions in our analyses that are in favor of the vaccine.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>It went on to say that based on US and EU data, along with other health authority assessments, the Danish Health Authority can say\u00a0<em>\u201cwith certainty\u201d<\/em>\u00a0that both the AstraZeneca and Johnson &amp; Johnson vaccines \u2013 known officially as Vaxzevria and Janssen respectively \u2013 can cause VITT syndrome, or thrombotic thrombocytopenia.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cBased on available data, there is no evidence that there is a gender difference in relation to the risk of VITT, but it must generally be assumed that the risk is greater in younger people than in older people,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0the Health Authority continued, before concluding that those who still choose to get vaccinated with either of the two vaccines should be informed that they\u2019re\u00a0<em>\u201cnot generally recommended by the National Board of Health.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In April, Denmark became the first European country to permanently\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rt.com\/news\/521005-denmark-completely-halt-astrazeneca\/\">suspend<\/a>\u00a0its use of the AstraZeneca vaccine after a number of cases of\u00a0<em>\u201cunusual blood clots, bleeding,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em>\u201clow blood platelets counts\u201d<\/em>\u00a0in those who had received the jabs.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cOur overall assessment is there is a real risk of severe side effects associated with using the Covid-19 vaccine from AstraZeneca,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0said Danish Health Authority Director General Soeren Brostroem at the time \u2013 the following month, Johnson &amp;
