Hammer thrower Gwen Berry claimed she was the victim of a \u201cset-up\u201d after turning away from the Stars and Stripes as the national anthem played while she collected her bronze medal at the US Olympic track and field trials.<\/p>\n

Berry booked a spot at this summer\u2019s Tokyo Olympics by finishing third behind DeAnna Price and Brooke Andersen on Saturday in Eugene, Oregon, sending the 31-year-old to her second successive Games.<\/p>\n

But that achievement was overshadowed by what happened on the podium after the competition.<\/p>\n

As the three athletes were collecting their medals, the Star-Spangled Banner struck up, prompting Berry to turn away from the US flag and eventually cover her head with a black T-shirt emblazoned with the words \u2018Activist Athlete\u2019 on the front.<\/p>\n
