Sebelius argued that unvaccinated Americans are \u201cimpinging\u201d on others\u2019 rights.<\/p>\n<p>She also argued that unvaccinated Americans should not be allowed to work or be around kids. Sebelius made the quite extraordinary and controversial claims on CNN. Watch:<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-embedded-content\" title=\"Obama&amp;apos;s Health Secretary: Unvaccinated Americans Should Not Be Allowed to Work, Have Kids Near Them\" src=\"https:\/\/rumble.com\/embed\/vh8ae3\/?pub=4870v#?secret=Y6H9gOkFVF\" width=\"1000\" height=\"563\" frameborder=\"0\" sandbox=\"allow-scripts\" data-secret=\"Y6H9gOkFVF\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re in a situation where we have a wildly effective vaccine, multiple choices, lots available, free of charge, and we have folks who are just saying I won\u2019t do it,\u201d she said. \u201cI think that it\u2019s time to say to those folks, it\u2019s fine if you don\u2019t choose to get vaccinated. You may not come to work. You may not have access to a situation where you\u2019re going to put my grandchildren in jeopardy. Where you might kill them, or you might put them in a situation where they\u2019re going to carry the virus to someone in a high-risk position.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s, I think the point where we are, is freedom is one thing, but freedom when you harm others like secondhand smoke and issues that we\u2019ve dealt with very clearly in the past you can\u2019t drive drunk,\u201d she continued. \u201cYou can drink, but you can\u2019t drive drunk because you can injure other people. You can\u2019t smoke inside of a public place where you can give cancer to someone else in spite of their never having been a smoker.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo I think we\u2019re reaching that point in the United States where those of us who are vaccinated, I want to take off my mask. I want to be able to live my life with vaccination, and right now, I\u2019m being impinged on by people who say I don\u2019t want to get vaccinated,\u201d she added. \u201cIt\u2019s fine. I want them to maybe have a limitation on where they can go and who they can possibly infect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, there is a problem with Sebelius\u2019s argument that is quite indisputable and a matter of basic reason. It is this: If people are afraid of COVID, they are free to get the vaccination. Vaccinations protect <em>you<\/em> from getting COVID. If other people don\u2019t want to get the vaccination, that is their personal decision. It is literally, \u2018my body, my choice.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, children are not significantly at risk from COVID-19. This is an empirical fact borne out by the data. A new Wall Street Journal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/in-children-risk-of-covid-19-death-or-serious-illness-remain-extremely-low-new-studies-find-11625785260\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report<\/a> provides the latest research that this is undeniably the case.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChildren are at extremely slim risk of dying from Covid-19, according to some of the most comprehensive studies to date, which indicate the threat might be even lower than previously thought,\u201d WSJ notes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome 99.995% of the 469,982 children in England who were infected during the year examined by researchers survived,\u201d one study found.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn fact, there were fewer deaths among children due to the virus than initially suspected,\u201d it continues. \u201cAmong the 61 child deaths linked to a positive Covid-19 test in England, 25 were actually caused by the illness.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEngland is a large enough country and it\u2019s had enough Covid, sadly, that we have better data than almost anywhere else in the world on the risks,\u201d said Russell Viner, a professor of adolescent health at the University College London Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health and senior author on the study.<\/p>\n<p>There are around 100 million American citizens under 18 in the United States. The mortality risk posed to healthy young people is insignificant: The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nchs\/nvss\/vsrr\/covid_weekly\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CDC\u2019s numbers<\/a> show that 331 people under 18 have died with COVID, and it estimated elsewhere that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/nchs\/nvss\/vsrr\/covid_weekly\/index.htm?fbclid=IwAR3-wrg3tTKK5-9tOHPGAHWFVO3DfslkJ0KsDEPQpWmPbKtp6EsoVV2Qs1Q\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">95% of mortality cases<\/a> overall are people with serious multiple co-morbidities. This leads to a COVID survival rate in the U.S. of 99.9997%, including the vast majority who are \u201cat risk\u201d due to underlying health conditions.<\/p>\n<p>Futhermore, childhood COVID vaccine administration has been tied by the CDC to rare cases of heart inflammation in young adults. In June, a Centers for Disease Control advisory group released a statement on the \u2018likely link\u2019 between COVID-19 vaccinations and heart inflammation in rare cases on Wednesday. In over 300 cases of reported myocarditis or pericarditis, a Pfizer\/BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccination preceded the heart condition.<\/p>\n<p>The COVID-19 Vaccine Safety Technical (VaST) Work Group noted the adverse reaction in vaccinated males between the ages of 16 and 24. The development of the heart condition was observed in adolescents and young adults and was considerably higher after the second dose in males.<\/p>\n<p>The medical risk breakdown is shown below:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-40190\" src=\"https:\/\/beckernews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/E4lTQmdWYAIOdSB-scaled-1.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/beckernews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/E4lTQmdWYAIOdSB-scaled-1.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/beckernews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/E4lTQmdWYAIOdSB-scaled-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/beckernews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/E4lTQmdWYAIOdSB-scaled-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/beckernews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/E4lTQmdWYAIOdSB-scaled-1-810x456.jpg 810w\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The lockdowns and mask mandates have caused lasting damage to children\u2019s education, in what the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/education\/students-falling-behind\/2020\/12\/06\/88d7157a-3665-11eb-8d38-6aea1adb3839_story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Washington Post called<\/a> a \u201clost generation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter the U.S. education system fractured into Zoom screens last spring, experts feared millions of children would fall behind,\u201d the Post <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/education\/students-falling-behind\/2020\/12\/06\/88d7157a-3665-11eb-8d38-6aea1adb3839_story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">states<\/a>. \u201cHard evidence now shows they were right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Forcing children to wear masks, socially distance and participate in distance learning is also taking a <a href=\"https:\/\/beckernews.com\/this-georgia-mom-speaks-for-millions-of-americans-fed-up-with-mask-mandates-for-schoolchildren-38714\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">psychological toll<\/a>. In October, the Annual State of Mental Health in America <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mhanational.org\/issues\/state-mental-health-america\">showed<\/a>\u00a0that anxiety and depression nationwide had hit an all-time high, and was hitting \u2018young people the hardest.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>While many are concerned that the Delta variant may lead to a repeat situation for the country, it has proven to be even less deadly than the first wave of COVID for all demographics. It has a <a href=\"https:\/\/dossier.substack.com\/p\/follow-the-science-deadly-delta-variant\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">case survival rate<\/a>\u00a0of 99.9% according to NHS official figures.<\/p>\n<p>All things considered, therefore, the masks may be doing more damage to children\u2019s health than COVID would even if they were infected. A lab analysis from the University of Florida showed <a href=\"https:\/\/beckernews.com\/2-university-lab-analysis-childrens-masks-found-to-contain-11-dangerous-pathogens-39994\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">11 dangerous pathogens<\/a> on masks worn by children for just eight hours.<\/p>\n<p>A newly-released study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association Pediatrics found that carbon dioxide in masks were at unhealthy levels for children.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe results found an average of 13,120 and 13,910 parts per million of carbon dioxide in the air inhaled by children while wearing surgical and filtering masks, respectively,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.msn.com\/en-us\/health\/medical\/children-should-not-be-forced-to-wear-masks-due-to-co2-levels-new-study-suggests\/ar-AALFKTk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">report said<\/a>. \u201cUnder German law, the carbon dioxide contents of a closed room cannot exceed 2000 ppm, more than six times less than the masked children were inhaling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe results also found that carbon dioxide levels tended to increase the younger the children were, with one 7-year-old\u2019s levels measured at 25,000 ppm,\u201d it continued. \u201cThe authors claim that most of the complaints made by children about wearing masks can be explained by increased carbon dioxide levels.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mask mandates do not appear to have an appreciable effect on COVID-related case rates or death rates. A recent CDC study <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webmd.com\/lung\/news\/20210308\/cdc-issues-new-report-on-face-mask-effectiveness\">showed<\/a> they have 0.9%-1.9% effect on case rates if used for 100 days. This is miniscule, and in regards to children, statistically inconsequential.<\/p>\n<p>Nonetheless, the Democratic Party and its allies at the CDC continue to spin statistically insignifant risks as life-and-death situations that require the infringement of Americans\u2019 liberty and personal choice.
