“I understand that we\u2019re trying to get our troops out of there. But the bottom line is we can leave a battlefield, but\u00a0we can\u2019t leave the war on terrorism, which still is a threat to our security<\/strong>,”\u00a0he said on CNN’s\u00a0OutFront<\/em>\u00a0news show. This after the Afghan Islamic State group known as ISIS-K took responsibility for the attacks, which had also reportedly taken out dozens of Taliban members.<\/p>\nPanetta was CIA Director at the height of the so-called ‘global war on terror’ – from 2009 through 2011 – and then became Obama’s Secretary of Defense through 2013.<\/p>\n
