Workers<\/h1>\n<p><!--more-->ZeroHedge.com<\/p>\n<p>In line with the recommendations made by the scientist-based CDC\u00a0advisory panel (ACIP) earlier on Thursday, the\u00a0CDC\u00a0endorsed COVID vaccine booster shots for Americans 65 and older, residents of nursing homes, and adults aged 18 to 64 with underlying health conditions.<\/p>\n<p>But that didn&#8217;t go far enough apparently for the far more politically-controlled CDC itself as late last night\u00a0<strong>CDC director Rochelle Walensky went beyond ACIP\u2019s recommendation by urging boosters for individuals allegedly at high risk because of their jobs<\/strong>\u00a0&#8211; which was left entirely undefined (we look forward to the union in-fighting over which jobs are &#8216;at-risk&#8217;).<\/p>\n<p>Notably, the CDC advisory panel, made up of independent medical experts, broke with the FDA on that recommendation in a split decision on Thursday.<\/p>\n<div class=\"Advert_desktop__1J5vD Advert_tablet__3QEBr Advert_mobile__1rlLc Advert_placement__1I4yb Advert_align__N0_fw\">\n<aside id=\"in-content-video\" class=\"Advert_verticallySpaced__wnPy3\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/21841313772,21778456762\/zerohedge\/in_content_video_0__container__\"><\/div>\n<\/aside>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>The panel specifically said it was concerned the move could send mixed messages about the vaccines,<\/strong>\u00a0which are incredibly effective at preventing severe illness.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.zerohedge.com\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/2021-09-24_5-02-21.jpg?itok=MIA2TZ74\" data-image-external-href=\"\" data-image-href=\"\/s3\/files\/inline-images\/2021-09-24_5-02-21.jpg?itok=MIA2TZ74\" data-link-option=\"0\"><picture><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"inline-images image-style-inline-images\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.zerohedge.com\/s3fs-public\/styles\/inline_image_mobile\/public\/inline-images\/2021-09-24_5-02-21.jpg?itok=MIA2TZ74\" alt=\"\" width=\"500\" height=\"335\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"49c0e622-573a-45d7-9c6e-7be178239572\" data-responsive-image-style=\"inline_images\" \/><\/picture><\/a><\/p>\n<p>But, hours after the panel voted 9-6 not to recommend boosters for those groups, Walensky overruled them.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;As\u00a0CDC\u00a0Director, it is my job to recognize where our actions can have the greatest impact,&#8221; Walensky said in a statement late Thursday, according to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/coronavirus-pandemic-business-science-health-coronavirus-vaccine-95b8d9a432b60fe0e9713adf75dde0ee?utm_source=Twitter&amp;utm_campaign=SocialFlow&amp;utm_medium=APedium=AP\">The Associated Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;<strong>At\u00a0CDC, we are tasked with analyzing complex, often imperfect data to make concrete recommendations that optimize health.<\/strong>&#8220;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Walensky noted her recommendation aligned with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/fda-authorizes-booster-shot-pfizer-biontech-covid-coronavirus-vaccine-2021-9\">Food and Drug Administration<\/a>, which recommended on Wednesday that adults &#8220;in an occupational or institutional setting&#8221; that increases their risk of getting COVID-19 also be eligible for the shot.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>\u201cIn a pandemic, even with uncertainty, we must take actions that we\u00a0<strong>anticipate will do the greatest good,<\/strong>\u201d she said in a statement.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI believe we can best serve the nation\u2019s public health needs by providing booster doses for the elderly, those in long-term care facilities, people with underlying medical conditions,\u00a0<strong>and for adults at high risk of disease from occupational and institutional exposures to COVID-19<\/strong>,\u201d she added.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>But,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.theepochtimes.com\/cdc-recommends-covid-19-booster-vaccine-for-group-that-advisory-panel-did-not_4014397.html?utm_source=partner&amp;utm_campaign=ZeroHedge\">as The Epoch Times&#8217; Zachary Stieber notes<\/a>, many said there wasn\u2019t sufficient data to inform the recommendation and that the recommendation was so broad that it might as well be for anybody 18 or older.<\/p>\n<div class=\"Advert_tablet__3QEBr Advert_mobile__1rlLc Advert_placement__1I4yb Advert_align__N0_fw\">\n<aside id=\"in-content-1\" class=\"Advert_centered__2tRj9 Advert_verticallySpaced__wnPy3\">\n<div id=\"google_ads_iframe_\/21841313772,21778456762\/zerohedge\/in_content_1_0__container__\"><\/div>\n<\/aside>\n<\/div>\n<blockquote><p>\u201c<strong>We might as well give it to everybody 18 and older<\/strong>.
