{"id":89902,"date":"2021-10-13T16:13:46","date_gmt":"2021-10-13T20:13:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stateofthenation.co\/?p=89902"},"modified":"2021-10-13T16:22:25","modified_gmt":"2021-10-13T20:22:25","slug":"communist-bill-de-blasio-pulls-the-ultimate-cultural-marxist-move","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/stateofthenation.co\/?p=89902","title":{"rendered":"Communist Bill De Blasio Pulls the Ultimate Cultural Marxist Move"},"content":{"rendered":"<h1>Movin\u2019 on out: De Blasio booting Founding Father Jefferson from City Hall<\/h1>\n<p><!--more-->By Julia Marsh<br \/>\nNew York Post<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" height=\"366\" width=\"650\" allowfullscreen=\"\" frameborder=\"0\" src=\"\/\/players.brightcove.net\/4137224153001\/6aIMRO3kiI_default\/index.html?videoId=6276950759001\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>This Founding Father will no longer be in \u201cthe room where it happens\u201d \u2014 thanks to Bill de Blasio.<\/p>\n<p>The mayor, who has just three months left in office, is quietly\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2020\/06\/18\/pols-call-on-de-blasio-to-boot-thomas-jefferson-from-city-hall\/\">banishing a statue<\/a>\u00a0of Thomas Jefferson from City Hall\u2019s Council chambers \u2014 where it has resided for the past 187 years, The Post has learned.<\/p>\n<p>The city\u2019s Public Design Commission \u2014 comprised of mayoral appointees \u2014 has listed \u201cthe long term loan\u201d of the 1833 painted plaster statue of the Declaration of Independence author to the New-York Historical Society on its \u201cconsent\u201d agenda for Monday.<\/p>\n<p>The consent designation means the historic statue\u2019s removal is not\u00a0scheduled for public debate. But Councilman I. Daneek Miller (D-Queens), who\u2019s been pushing to boot Jefferson, said the loan is \u201cindefinite.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Miller said he expects the statue to be gone by Oct. 21, the City Council\u2019s next body-wide meeting.<\/p>\n<p>At least one council member wasn\u2019t pleased with Jefferson\u2019s banishment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe de Blasio administration will continue the progressive war on history as he, himself, fades away into a portrait on a City Hall wall,\u201d Councilman Joe Borelli (R-Staten Island) told The Post.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a Borelli said.<\/p>\n<p>Reps for the historical society didn\u2019t immediately return requests for comment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe city would still own the plaster model, and the historical society would include it in educational exhibits and provide valuable historical context,\u201d a mayoral spokesman said.<\/p>\n<p>The planned move comes after the mayor\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2020\/06\/19\/chirlane-mccray-will-judge-nyc-washington-jefferson-statues\/\">charged his wife<\/a>, first lady Chirlane McCray, with deciding the sculpture\u2019s fate as appointment came in June 2020 \u2014 following George Floyd\u2019s death at the hands of a Minneapolis\u00a0police officer and a day after\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2020\/06\/18\/pols-call-on-de-blasio-to-boot-thomas-jefferson-from-city-hall\/\">several City Council members<\/a>\u00a0asked the mayor to remove Jefferson\u2019s likeness from the council chambers because the nation\u2019s third president owned slaves.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s so much about Thomas Jefferson and his own personal writings, memoirs about how he treated his slaves, his family members and things of that nature and how he perceived African Americans and slaves \u2014 that they lacked intelligence, that they were not to assimilate into society,\u201d Miller told The Post.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor us to really highlight such an individual is really not who we are as a council,\u201d Miller said.<\/p>\n<p>___<br \/>\n<a
