Photo: Greg Nash-Pool\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-1-13 sm:col-3-11 \">\n<div class=\"b0w77w-0 jhsJV mt-12 mb-20 sm:mt-20 gtm-story-text p\">\n<p>Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said Friday the U.S. &#8220;may need to update&#8221; its definition for what it means to have full vaccination against COVID.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The big picture:\u00a0<\/strong>The\u00a0<a class=\"gtm-content-click\" href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/cdc-guidance-boosters-mix-and-match-902c873a-e0ee-4dd7-808a-924e415463fa.html\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\" data-vars-link-text=\"CDC and the FDA have officially approved boosters \" data-vars-click-url=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/cdc-guidance-boosters-mix-and-match-902c873a-e0ee-4dd7-808a-924e415463fa.html\" data-vars-event-category=\"story\" data-vars-sub-category=\"story\" data-vars-item=\"in_content_link\">CDC and the FDA have officially approved boosters\u00a0<\/a>with every authorized vaccine in the U.S. for people who meet specific requirements. Walensky explained that since not everyone is eligible for a booster, the definition has not been changed &#8220;yet.&#8221;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Currently, the\u00a0<a class=\"gtm-content-click\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/volumes\/70\/wr\/mm7037e1.htm#:~:text=Fully%20vaccinated%20persons%20are%20those,yet%20considered%20fully%20vaccinated.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-vars-link-text=\"CDC's definition\" data-vars-click-url=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/volumes\/70\/wr\/mm7037e1.htm#:~:text=Fully%20vaccinated%20persons%20are%20those,yet%20considered%20fully%20vaccinated.\" data-vars-event-category=\"story\" data-vars-sub-category=\"story\" data-vars-item=\"in_content_link\">CDC&#8217;s definition<\/a>\u00a0is the following: &#8220;Fully vaccinated persons are those who are \u226514 days post-completion of the primary series of an FDA-authorized COVID-19 vaccine.&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What they&#8217;re saying:\u00a0<\/strong>&#8220;We have not yet changed the definition of &#8216;fully vaccinated.&#8217; We will continue to look at this.
