The first was with Austrian economist and author, Rahim Taghizadegan<\/b>, who is also the president of a project called Free Private Cities.<\/b><\/p>\n
Rahim chatted to me about why city states are superior to nation states, and why more people should learn about the Hanseatic League.<\/b><\/p>\n
Very few – if not, any – examples of modern-era city states (private cities) exist. The closest might be the Vatican City or Monaco or Singapore. But the history of city states dates back millennia, to ancient Athens for instance, in which incredible innovation and liberties were commonplace.<\/p>\n
The second podcast this week was with Joe Navarro.<\/b><\/p>\n
Joe is a public speaker, author, and former FBI agent.<\/p>\n
He spent over two decades, applying his expertise in body language, leading SWAT teams and catching spies.<\/p>\n
Nonverbal communication is humanity\u2019s primal messenger. It is what humans used before they had the ability to speak, and, unlike words, body language never lies.<\/p>\n
My conversation with him was hilarious; he has so many great stories. He is also brilliant where body language is concerned; he even assessed mine!

\n<\/b>And the third podcast was about what the guest refers to as ‘scientism’.<\/b><\/p>\n
Michael Esfeld is a professor of Philosophy Of Science at the University Of Lausanne in Switzerland.<\/p>\n
He is very worried about the way in which we gather and distribute knowledge, arguing that it’s becoming too cult-like, centralised, and closed.<\/p>\n
Freedom to act and think creates open societies.<\/p>\n
For example, telling people to “trust the science”, he says, is dangerous and creates a closed society. Because, after all, who are the ones telling others to “trust the science”, and who gives them the authority to make such claims?<\/p>\n
And which science, exactly, should be trusted?<\/p>\n
When somebody demands that you “trust the science”, ignore them because they are not behaving in the spirit of science. In fact, being told to “trust the science” is a shortcut to totalitarianism.<\/p>\n
My conversation with Michael is profoundly important. If you can, then please watch (or listen) to it.<\/p>\n
