Hundreds of soldiers and civilians have been killed in Armenia in a conflict with Azerbaijan. Armenia is now asking Russia for assistance due to a long-standing treaty.
Azerbaijan is a gas-rich country and receives advanced weapons, drones, advisors and trainers from Tel Aviv, however Russia is a formal protectorate of Armenia as Azerbaijan/Israel increases attacks on Armenia. The current Russian military setback in Ukraine is causing Putin to resort to peace talks rather than military intervention or weapons aid.
