Gates Foundation reports AIG, Covidien stakes-filing

REUTERSWASHINGTON, Nov 14 (Reuters) – Microsoft Corp (MSFT.O) Chairman Bill Gates disclosed on Wednesday his foundation held 499,999 shares of American International Group Inc (AIG.N) and 1.2 million shares of Covidien Ltd COV.N as of September 30, according to a regulatory filing on Wednesday.

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Trust also reported in a U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission filing that it had more than doubled its stake in diversified health-care company Johnson & Johnson (JNJ.N) to 2.5 million shares from 1.03 million shares as of June 30.

Covidien is a U.S. health care products maker.

The foundation’s stake in Tyco International Ltd TYC.N was reduced to 1.2 million shares, as the company spun off its health care and technology divisions earlier this year into separate publicly traded companies, according to the filing.

The overall value of the foundation’s portfolio increased to $9.12 billion from $6.64 billion as of June 30. (Reporting by Karey Wutkowski; editing by Carol Bishopric)
